She told Time in 2012 about her political engagement: “I follow it, and I try to keep myself as educated and informed as possible. But I don’t talk about politics because it might influence other people. And I don’t think that I know enough yet in life to be telling people who to vote for.”

Where is the proof that she was "prohibited/banned" from being political? She didn't wanting to influence people really translates into I didn't want to alienate people against me.

Meanwhile Gaga was openly political and supportive of the LGBTQIA community since the beginning of her career.

Maybe… just maybe some artists don’t want to be involved in politics.

Because she keeps releasing good music. I’m just a new fan of Taylor Swift and I’m enjoying the suspense for the upcoming re-recordings. We all like different music. She may not be your cup of tea but thousands of people all over the world stream her music everyday.

I guess if you say so.

The only thing I do agree with is we all nave different styles of music.

I mean. Not all of her songs are to my liking. She is the only artist that is relatively interesting right now.

Taylor is literally everywhere. How are people not bored of this girl and her “antics” yet? I honestly don’t get the hoopla over her music at all. If this was Gaga, people would be dragging her to dirt and cancelling her like no tomorrow a la Born This Way era. I don’t get it.

Her music has now reached people that would have never listened to her years ago. Lots of older people are seeing her for being a serious songwriter/artist now, similar to Gaga during Joanne, Super Bowl, and ASIB. Imo, once you get these types as fans, you’re set for getting bigger and bigger (even though she’s already huge to us in the pop world)

She was 22 in 2012 and didn’t understand enough about politics to say anything. In an interview in 2015 or 2016 she said one of her gay friends asked her how she would feel if her child was gay. She said that she was shocked somebody would ask her that because she knew she obviously would support them. That’s when she said she decided to be more vocal about her opinions and make sure she was informed enough to speak on them. She realized that by being silent it meant others would fill in the blanks in what she said. I’m not saying she was right for taking long to speak up- but you can’t expect a 22 year old to understand how to use her fame to make political change and affect. But she learned from it and grew from it like she has done over and over in her career and that’s why so many of us learned to love her. She never gets bitter- she gets better.

I don’t get how no one sees this re-recording situation for what it really is.
She’s asking fans to purchase music they essentially already have because she signed a bad deal. Cant hate though…because it’s actually working for her. :selena: From an outside perspective it looks like a really expensive tantrum.

Fans acting all shocked and cryptic as if they didn't know the new re-recorded album is coming out soon. :awkney: It's fun.

what Scooter & Scott are doing is so fuc*ked up.  to chalk it all up to "getting her fans to purchase music... it's a really expensive tantrum" is so shortsighted and frankly disrespectful to TS as an artist lol

girl she wasn’t saying that. she was literally saying she wasn’t educated enough yet to speak about it. i would rather someone be silent and learn rather than to speak stupidity and influence the masses with their stupidity.

it’s taking back her artistic freedom. if gaga were doing it right now, y’all would say it poetic. but since it’s taylor and we’re still on her hate train in 2021 you will find any way to make it negative.

I like her and her music but I am not biased. It's clear she didn't speak politics not because she wasn't "aware" but because she knew that could be detrimental to her career. Still is good she now knows better. 😉

She is re-recording it because she was f*cked over by her former label and scooter 🛴 Her fans are happy to experience the new music. I’m not buying the music but I am streaming it and I am enjoying it. It’s more than just a “expensive tantrum”. Say you are a painter and you agree to have 6 paintings in a gallery but the gallery sells them without even consulting you and somebody will profit from your work. What do you do? The new owner doesn’t sell it to you. You try to recreate the paintings. That’s exactly what Taylor Swift is doing. I am happy to be xperiencing this stage in her career. I absolutely loved listening to Fearless (Taylor’s Version) for the first time (and overall for the album)
