for the next album, would you rather Gaga commit to one genre, delivering a sonically/musically cohesive album? or do you want another Mayhem where there is no signature/defining sound and various genres are showcased?

Genre isn't as important to me as theme (my one criticism of Mayhem is that there are multiple, somewhat unrelated thematic threads running through it) but I do love when she picks a single genre and shows us what it looks like through the 'Gaga lens'. I don't think it's a coincidence that Born This Way and ARTPOP are arguably the fan favourite albums, and both of them do this.

I picked many genres because I think it's awesome to see how far one can go with music taste and self-expression. However, this is Gaga, and she can do whatever she wants musically and it will always sound great.

Born This Way remains the blueprint for me in its approach to genre.

It's cohesive yet diverse. If I were to classify it into one category, it would simply be 'pop', but that would be doing the album a disservice. It has this industrial, gritty, relentless throughline that ties every song together, but still gives each song enough breathing room to create a world of their own.

Heck, she managed to get mariachi, german techno and classic rock 'n roll to sound cohesive on one album.

Tbh I would say that most of her albums are fairly genre consistent, no?

I'm thinking in particular of Chromatica and to a lesser extent Joanne. The jazz ones extremely so (although I'd say Harlequin is not exclusively jazz).
