Also she had gone through her divorce like not even two years before so she probably used it as a fun distraction. IMO

Minor correction:

Hard Candy got released 19th of April 2008

She divorced Guy Ritchie in October of that year.

Hard Candy is a solid album, though I can see why fans mark it a the “beginning of the end.” It’s the first album where she’s following the trends rather than leading them. Still, it has the Madonna trademark that the following album misses

The Pharrell production on Hard Candy was echoing the 2013 70s disco funk trend. She worked with trendy producers, but the tracks they produced didn't sound to me at all like a what was on the radio at that time.

As a song is fine. But as a first single? whit all those together amazing tracks? Faz Gostoso would’ve been a mega hit

Nothing would have been a hit. She can release the most amazing songs, it still would underperform. Age is not just an number.

She's a human being with her own struggles, changes and new experiences.

She took a long break after Hard Candy and came back to a literally new world, many new girls, new genres, Youtube, Streaming, everything changed and there she is now, she has a new generation to try and succeed with.

So she tried to be the cool and bitchy with MDNA, it didn't work well, then she talked about love, acceptance etc with Living For Love, was a bit too late and then she came with a political album Madame X, was a bit too late too and was too out of place on Spotify.

in 9 years her only viral moments where the Super Bowl and when she fell at the BRITS.. and pretty much that's it.

Her views on Youtube are a disaster except for some old hits.

Something is just wrong and it's obviously her manager, Guy Oseary, who didn't do a good work from moving forward to the streaming era and making a good promo and of course Interscope who didn't care about her.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I really like some of her songs, grew up with lots of them, and will always have respect for her impact and the icon she became.

But I think she should've stayed on her throne looking at her legacy, knowing that she already had her peak and helped many artists to become what they are today.
Instead it feels like she still tries to become as relevant again as she was back then, and behaves like someone in their 20s or 30s.
Also her gerneral attitude holds me back from getting more into her work.

trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if it's broken but you can still see the crack in that ************s reflection.

She fell at the Brit Awards not the VMAs.

I think she just lost herself. Hard Candy & MDNA were trying to chase trends. Rebel Heart is the only album I enjoyed from her this past decade. Madame X is too experimental and the singles just don’t represent that. She needs to stop having features with young hot artists like Maluma cause it makes her look desperate.

Magic Mike

You guys , please shut up :fthis:

Madonna continues to slay. Madame X is an amazing album. One of her best actually. Just because people like to hate her now doesn’t mean music isn’t going bad , but ACTUALLY better then ever.
Yes Ray of Light will continue a masterpiece.

Why can’t she be a ho tho? If that’s what she wants as well to appear to be? Sexualising older women is necessary too u know.

I said what I said. And don’t care about charts.

She tried too hard to be relevant with the kids ( who mostly dont care) and alienated her older fanbase along the way.

Madame X could have been a good album, but alas she fell into needing guest stars and some sub Britney Spears standard lyrics. Rebel Heart suffered from the same problems- from what I recall there was an ok album in there if you listen to some of the demos- but stuff like Holy Water and Sex should never have left the studio

Queen Bitch

Nothing happened. She made a few bad albums; that happens to all artists at some point. People really need to stop pretending that a few bad albums ruined her entire career. Yes, Hard Candy and MDNA was bad. But Rebel Heart and Madame X are both good albums. The latter is imo her best album since COADF. The quality of her work went down and now she recovered.
