Why are drag queens all starting to do the exact same mug? I miss the early days of drag race before drag became so utterly mainstreamed.

This seems particularly misguided since Shiddy Poo has such a unique mug because it's so bad. Who else does a face like this? Don't claim it's everywhere. Literally name names so we know what you're talking about and not just giving a strawman.

Did you quote the wrong person?

I did. Your post was right above theirs and the mobile site was probably still etching out when I decided to quote them and I accidentally clicked yours.

Its more complicated than this but heres the gist.

Pretended to be a high profile casting agent and promised auditions to men. Stung people along for months/years with promise of auditions, made them take steroids, send naked pictures, manipulated them into situations they didnt want to be in. Tried to cut them off from friends and family etc. He bullied harassed and embarrassed anyone who tried to stand up to him.

As i said there more to it than that but thats a simple way of putting it.

Sherry P**p also made up a situation where a few of the guys made a homemade **** video of they giving Sherry a handj*b (or she gave them a handj*b, I don't perfectly remember). I think that was the thing that actually got her cancelled, the sexual abuse.

I am authistic, so don't be offended if I make a mess sometimes.

There are so many talented queens who deserve the platform of a major TV tall show. Has Tamron Hall featured any of them? Likely not. Just the abuser. Says a lot.

Idk if I agree with this, if you look at the first couple seasons of drag race that make up was pretty homogenous (and often understated, Courtney Act style make up) outside from rare few that took more risks. If anything the later seasons featured more unique and out of the box make up looks.

I think because drag has become more popularized you do see more of the exact same faces (like I mistake drag queens for each other all the time) but there is still good variety.

Yeah very that, people say it’s “all the same” because there are similarities (duh) and a more popular style (as always).

With the number of queens we know now it’s barely possible to have a truly unique mug. Trixie, Hungry and Juno Birch are the few who have no similar queens.

As you said the trend used to be Courtney (not actually inspired by her), now it’s just became Raven.

Right? Like drag always influenced & took from beauty trends and you can really tell by looking at season 1 queens verses more recent seasons.

and there’s only so many ways to paint a “beautiful woman face” without it becoming cartoonish or like club kid level abstract, and then it becomes like a “gimmick”. I remember the judges even asked Crystal Methyd to “tone down” her clown face style make up because they found it repetitive.

Exactly. Unless you’re gonna commit to one very niche (and campy/cartoonish/unnatural) look, there’s basically no way to have unique drag makeup.

It’s normal that most queens have a basic mug they can spice up after with the concept of their look. More versatility.

My favourite queen is Juno Birch but she probably wouldn’t do well on Drag Race just because her mug is basically always the same. It’s not versatile, but it’s unique as ****. It’s very hard to get a balance of both (Crystal kinda does it)

Actually it’s fascinating to me how despite being very similar on a surface levels, all queens have some specific makeup quirks. There’s those drag queen eyes drawings that go around where you see all of it, and you can easily tell the difference even if the makeup style nowadays is pretty homogenous

Sherry Pie came across so poorly. Her answers where all over the place. Not very articulate. Pointless interview to be honest.

Whatever she says, there is no way to appear well or sincere tbfh. They clearly wanted her on the show to get some viewership from controversy (lol?) and to try and clean her image and reintroduce her to the entertainment world which is laughable tbh. Whatever she says, she's still a horrible predator. And if she really meant well, she would have done things behind the scenes to offer reparations to her victims, not go on a talk show to discuss the mess that she made. I just really hope no one buys any of her bullsh!t.

I don’t know if it’s my inner hipster, but drag, to me is supposed to be subversive and always challenge gender norms, but it’s hard to do that when it is becoming so accepted. Although I suppose drag queens will always be somewhat subversive just based on their very existence.

I think it is the hipster in you. All of us hate when something we love goes mainstream, like billie eilish for me, so it's normal. Deep down you know it isn't a bad thing that many people now accept and understand, and since more people are exposed to it more people are going to try doing drag and learn by imitating their idols, so they'll look similar, not everyone can have a unique look. On this season you have to admit that people like Gottmik and Utica are offering original concepts from fashion to makeup

Drag Race star Sherry Pie, who was disqualified from the competition last year after allegations of sexual misconduct and catfishing surfaced—the drag queen, real name Joey Gugliemelli, has since acknowledged the accusations were true—reappeared after a months-long hiatus to talk with Tamron Hall on her talk show.

Quite the Twitter mess ensued (just search up "Sherry Pie Tamron Hall"), and at least one of Gugliemelli's former co-stars criticized the decision to book her

Video of the appearance promo is below

Edit: This post has been updated to better reflect the nature of Pie's transgressions, changing "sexual assault" to "sexual misconduct"
