Demi Lovato and Charli XCX Docs Headlining Virtual SXSW Film Festival

The Austin, Texas-based film, music and technology festival — which will be digital this year — announced its film slate on Wednesday afternoon. Reflecting the musical identity of its home city, the festival will headlined by a trio of music documentaries.



The opening night film will be “Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil,” a YouTube Originals documentary directed by Michael D. Ratner.
Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil is a powerful YouTube Originals documentary event, exploring every aspect that led to Lovato’s nearly fatal overdose in 2018, and her awakenings in the aftermath.

“Alone Together,” directed by Bradley Bell and Pablo Jones-Soler, is the festival’s closing night film.

The film festival runs online from March 16 to 20, and will feature 57 world premieres, three international premieres and four North American premieres.

Very curious about Charli's film. It's odd because as a fan, I'd much rather have seen a documentary about her life pre-covid, either during a tour, making an album etc. I assume this film will just be her recording in her home?  seems uneventful. Obviously I'm watching regardless but it's kind of funny
