"There ain't a reason you and me should be alone tonight...I need a man that thinks it's right when it's so wrong" -- Since the song is about being in your final moments, I take this to mean that the brevity of life (while "so wrong") is so special and we shouldn't spend it alone. "Another shot before we kiss the other side" -- take a swig and jump into the afterlife in that final glorious moment! It has always had this nostalgic vibe to it, which I think mostly has to do with the chord progression. The beat + Gaga's vocals give it real oomph as a dance song. It's a really inspirational song too. Her performances of it are always magical. It was my favourite part of the Joanne World Tour in Toronto. I told her Lady Gaga. She said Is that the girl with the crazy outfits that plays piano? I said yes ma’am. She said I love her voice. She sang this song for someone. She was going through something. She has a lot of pain. That makes her voice so beautiful. Play it for me. We listened to the song 3 times. A few weeks later she passed and on my way to her burial, it came on the radio when I turned my car on. It will always have a special place to me and my family. Anorexia was my slow and purposely painful way to commit suicide. But then I heard the song playing in my room's TV and fell in love instantly with the song's melody and lyrics. MOT 2,779 Posted January 27, 2021 Share Posted January 27, 2021 I heard the piano version first and loved it, so I was initially a bit disappointed by the album version because it was so different, but the more I listened the more I liked. And that video is so poignant. You look at Gaga in it, she's just this young, beautiful girl with who knows what ahead of her. Ten years later and the young girl is gone, replaced by a woman who has already established herself as one of THE great artists, and counting. But the beautiful girl with the big future ahead of her is accompanied by someone who had already done it all and bought all the t-shirts twice over, and Clarence Clemons, as it turned out, was on the edge of glory himself. He died about a month after the song was released, and listening to his saxophone fading out now it almost sounds like a goodbye. At the time when this song was released, a lot of people who would have been fans of Clarence and the Boss and Jackson Browne et al probably wouldn't have given Gaga the time of day, but Clarence himself obviously knew better. Besides it being my favorite Gaga song, I remember me and my family attending the Joanne tour in 2018 just a day after my grandpa died.
