I remember years ago the first few times I heard it it felt too busy, too much going on at once. But once I'd given it a few listens and my brain was able to differentiate the individuals parts, I loved it! It was a grower for me but I love it now. I wouldn't change anything about it!

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

yes it is, everything after the first pre-chorus is chaotic. I only listen to the live acoustics and fanmade stripped down edits

Garibay should've produced it, like The edge of glory. I think Redone is not very good in "emotional" songs :huntyga:

I'm not the biggest fan of how childish her voice sounds during most of the song, but that is clearly intentional. I love how bombastic it is.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

Its one of her most cringeworthy songs ever. The chrous breakdown "free as my ha-ha-ha-zoooon-ha-ha-hair" is so bad, the production is overproduced, and that bridge is really bad.

Hair is like a giant cheese fest with overproduced 80s instrumental. It would have been better just leaving it as a piano song since all of her piano live versions are way better than the studio song.

Yeah I think it has too much going on, especially the post-chorus

but production aside, it’s one of my least favourite Gaga songs :bear: it’s too cringey for me

It could be production that works, but I don’t think it really matches the song all that much. I think the song requires just a little less to let the lyrics and melody breathe.

In comparison to most songs on ARTPOP it is underproduced :huntyga:

Ok,

So there are some slight issues with the production and vocal mixing on Born This Way. I think I remember Gaga saying that she didn't have much time to make the album so that might be a reason why some of the songs seem to have a quality leaning more towards a demo than a polished song. (Also I know that the industrial, distorted rock techno was the intended aesthetic but sometimes it makes the music sound a bit muddled).

Most of Hair is actually really good :legend:, but the way the track has been produced makes the music sound a bit 'smaller' than the likes of Judas, TEOG, BTW etc. And they added a muddy distortion effect on her voice in the chorus which I really don't think complimented the song and didn't allow the chorus to soar the way it should have. That same distortion is on the chorus of Marry The Night and again it seems to muddy it up a bit rather than heighten it. I know it's an intended aesthetic but compare that for example with the chorus of Aura, which is incredibly clear and clean, and it really makes the vocals blaze.

Plus Gaga typically uses a lot of backing vocal harmonies in her choruses which sound stunning, and distorting it makes them far harder to discern. For example the Judas chorus. There's no distortion on that chorus and it really helps!

Also Gaga's voice is too gorgeous as it is to distort it. Not on a big chorus at least. It's unnecessary and just takes more than it gives imo.

But for fun quirks like the verses on Heavy Metal Lover, Bloody Mary or Highway Unicorn it works fine.

Hair should have been the second single. It is a masterpiece. All the nay sayers can shove it. :bye:

Yes but it’s cathartic and necessary.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.
