I think a large percent will be mixed too, especially in America. We’re already starting to see a large increase in interracial black and white marriages, and there’s going to be a lot of hispanic mixing too (so even the white population we have in the future will be less European)

U should see my area of Canada (I'm not saying the entire country is like this). Here in the Toronto region there's easily as many interracial couples as there are same ethnicity couples these days especially in people under 40 to 45 years old.

And in the case of my suburb city the largest background is Indian. They out number all of the white backgrounds combined... But my city (Brampton) is unusually heavily concentrated with South Asians and Middle Eaterns (Indians again are the largest single Nation background)

Actually the Federal Left-Wing NDP party leader is an Indian from my city. His name is Jagmeet Sing :lolly:

I think the government should try and encourage immigrant communities to reside and settle in Northern regions as well a bit more. That way new cities and communities can be built a bit more dispersed in this huge country. I know immigrants tend to go to big cities at first for jobs and to find others from the same background but I think the government should find a way to create more jobs in the North and give incentives for people to move north tbh. It still feels like a frontier of sorts that still needs exploration and development.

tbh there is REALLY nothing up there for the most part, infrastructure-wise. And where there are people, the government does an atrocious job making sure the conditions are livable for the (vast majority) Indigenous population. It's a whole mess, and sore spot for many Canadians. Just one example, this community hasn't had clean water for like 30 years, many places roads are not possible, you have to fly into, so food is CRAZY expensive, medical care and education are tricky... it's a... whole thing.

I went to a college that was majority Asian (not racially, but heritage wise). So many middle easterners, Indians, and East Asians. As a mainly European guy there I was definitely a minority. I think it’s super interesting how much genetic diversity is coming to the Americas. Historically I think it’s only acceptable for us to be the most diverse place on the planet, so I’m glad we’re going that direction.

so white ppl will still form the majority ethnic group even if they are below 50% seeing as the other ethnic groups are also divided. Do you know what it will likely look like in Canada for example? I'm guessing something like:

40% White (various European backgrounds)

25% South Asian & South East Asian (Indians, Pakistanis, Filipinos etc...)

20% East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans)

5% Black (various black communities from Africa and North America)

5% Indigenous

5% Other (Middle Easterners, Jewish, Berbers etc...)

??

I'm curious about the composition of the population tbh.! I heard Canada is allowing tons of immigration because it wants to reach like 60 million people by 2050 I think. Idk if that is a feasible goal but it would be interessting. I always thought Canada was too huge to be so sparsly populated...that said most of the population is along the American border in the south of Canada. I think the government should try and encourage immigrant communities to reside and settle in Northern regions as well a bit more. That way new cities and communities can be built a bit more dispersed in this huge country. Eh ,, white people are hardly united ...

Economic and political and gender lines pretty much make that impossible..

like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true

Yeah... It makes so sense to try to make something happen up there tbh

I do think struggling Native groups should be taken care of better...

But in terms of trying to make large population gains up there anytime soon I seriously don't see the point for many reasons:

- extremely cold and harsh winter and high heating bills.

- very short sunlight hours in winter which is terrible for depression. The suicide rate in winter months in the North of Canada is huge

- it would be very economically inneficient to build cities sparsely populated with so much distance between them up there. Nothing can be done in bulk and stuff is just chronically expensive up there for that reason. Even without paying income taxes many regions have to be heavily subsidized with tax credits to survive. I heard in Iqualuit a family of 4 can have a grocery bill of up to $3000/month because everything has to be transported from far and nothing in bulk

- the population up North would have to rise by a lot (many millions) before these inneficiencies saw significant improvements. In the mean time they would be an economic burden for the whole nation for decades upon decades

It just doesn't make sense to populate the north just for the sake of populating it. No one is going to go steal it in the 21st century it's not how it works. And even if a Country wanted to, it's not having residents living there that would stop them in this day and age

Realistically all the action is in the south close to the US border and it makes sense to keep growing population down here and there's still lots of room. No reason to be going up north just for the sake of it

Well if u think about it, it makes sense wed be the most diverse...

The entire North and South American continents (despite having Natives already present) saw bit population growth from the settlers only a few hundred years ago...

USA & Canada for some reason are the only 2 Countries in the Entire American continents that turned out to be wealthy and developed so it's where Immigrantion continued to flow heavily into late 20th century and in 21st century while other American Continent Countries now mainly have the original population backgrounds that settled in the past

Australia and NZ also were made up of Immigrantion but for whatever reason for a very long time most of their Immigrantion continued to be mostly white and only in more recent years non-white Immigrantion has surged

That being said, a few developing Countries in South America have a fair bit of diversity but from multiple generations ago (not recent). I know Brazil in particular has a huge range of white, black and mixed although other groups are a little more limited

Not as wild here. I know white ppl that don't like Immigrants exist here too but for some reason they aren't as vocal about it as they are in the US...

That is generally speaking. From time to time you'll get incidents like this which actually happened in the same city I work in and the largest Toronto suburb :toofunny:

I was refering more to population ratios not as much in totals. Like Brazil has over 200M ppl

Or are they the highest in ratio as well?

If so I'm not totally shocked. Brazil as I mentioned is quite diverse. Even tho it's not a strong Immigrantion attractor these days cuz it hasn't been considered a desirable wealthy country in decades, in the past up until the middle of last century it attracted a lot of people

There are more than 2 million, so yeah is not a big percentage of the population. And even though if I had the option I wouldn't come to brazil :bear: there are lot of japanese and korean immigrants that come to brazil because of their work on international companies and build families here.

Maybe a little off topic but I just attended a funeral (on zoom) from a Brazilian man my family knew for a very long time. He wasn't born there but lived there most of his life and even spoke Portuguese in the Brazilian accent indistinguishable from Brazilian born people
