USA & Canada To Be Minority White By 2045 & 2036

North America is getting close to not having an ethnicity or racial background that makes up a majority (more than 50%) of the population

 

Both the US and Canada according to projections will have less than half their population be of white race where no single ethnicity or continental background will make up a majority of the population

 

In the US by 2045 the white population is expected to fall below half of total population. Latinos will still make up the majority of non-white population. Whites although below 50% of population will still be the largest racial groups.

 

Canada due to an Immigrantion rate 3X as high as USA (relative to population size) will reach that milestone even earlier in 2036. By then 30% of population will be born outside of Canada and an additional 20% will have at least 1 non-white immigrant parent.

 

In Canada unlike the US the dominant non white groups will not be Latino but be Oriental and South Asian if current Immigrantion trends persist

2020 was the worst year of my entire life... and the pandemic only had about 20% to do with that...

so white ppl will still form the majority ethnic group even if they are below 50% seeing as the other ethnic groups are also divided. Do you know what it will likely look like in Canada for example? I'm guessing something like:

40% White (various European backgrounds)

25% South Asian & South East Asian (Indians, Pakistanis, Filipinos etc...)

20% East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans)

5% Black (various black communities from Africa and North America)

5% Indigenous

5% Other (Middle Easterners, Jewish, Berbers etc...)

I'm curious about the composition of the population tbh.! I heard Canada is allowing tons of immigration because it wants to reach like 60 million people by 2050 I think. Idk if that is a feasible goal but it would be interessting. I always thought Canada was too huge to be so sparsly populated...that said most of the population is along the American border in the south of Canada. I think the government should try and encourage immigrant communities to reside and settle in Northern regions as well a bit more. That way new cities and communities can be built a bit more dispersed in this huge country. I know immigrants tend to go to big cities at first for jobs and to find others from the same background but I think the government should find a way to create more jobs in the North and give incentives for people to move north tbh. It still feels like a frontier of sorts that still needs exploration and development.

Yes for USA white will still be the largest individual group just not a majority as in making up more than half

 

For Canada there are supposed to be just as many "browns" as whites but the thing is what ppl call brown can be Indian, Middle Eastern or even a country like Trinidad. Completely different ethnicities with totally different cultures. A little different than whites which generally are all European so it depends how your gonna classify that.

 

And I'm not sure about the ratio. I know currently India makes up by far the largest Immigrantion group. And middle East another big chunk. But that affects the numbers for future addition not what we already have in place such as a high number of Asian population such as Chinese and Vietnamese. They may no longer be coming in in as large a number as India + middle East but a lot are already here.

 

And I don't think black would be that low would it? Tbh I don't know the current black population numbers. There is a huge amount in the Toronto metro (the largest background being Jamaican followed by Nigerian) but I don't know for Canada as a whole what it is

 

Edit: about what u said of dispersing... I'm not sure what exactly would be the benefit or the point of trying to increase the population in the North tbh.

I think a large percent will be mixed too, especially in America. We’re already starting to see a large increase in interracial black and white marriages, and there’s going to be a lot of hispanic mixing too (so even the white population we have in the future will be less European)

I think it’s still majority white if you count white hispanics as white (which you should?). I think as a country we’ll be more like Latino countries, where white people are less “European pure” genetically. It’s even happened with my generation, both me and my sister have middle eastern heritage and my half brother has Native American heritage, while my father is European.

I doubt that. The Immigrantion rate has been high for a long time now

 

Places where Immigrantion is the highest (such as Toronto metro for example) where nearly 50% of the population is already born outside of Canada, and an additional percentage on top of that have Immigrant parents has not resulted in significant hate crimes or attacks

 

I'm not saying Canada as a whole is like this because Canada is a country where most Immigrantion is concentrated in a few specific regions. But in the Toronto metro where I live it's rare at this point to find someone whose background is Canadian going back more than 2 generations, you never assume when you meet someone that they are Canadian, either they are an Immigrant or their parents/grandparents were and most recent Immigrants last few decades not from white European countries

 

It hasn't resulted in major National issues or large protests or a high frequency of hate crimes.

 

Of course there's always racist and bigoted individuals, u can't get rid of that... But I think if something of a stronger pushback like what your suggesting was gonna happen, it would have happened already. The fact that it hasn't up until now suggests it probably won't later either
