MaryJaneHolland 77,348
For some reason, I'm very pessimistic (or maybe realistic ) that a vaccine is coming this soon and that by this time next year everything will be normal. Is it true that a vaccine can take up to few years to make? Is it because none were worked on as hard as the COVID-19 one? I'm trying to find a pattern that a vaccine coming this quickly can be just as safe.

Yes it can but we really never saw people working so hard before for finding a vaccine like for this one so who knows, maybe they are right.

Yea, even if it is 90% effective they’re rushing stage 4 trials which often taken years testing it out on various groups to see the true side effects. Nonetheless, they’re kinda in a dilemma with the pandemic so they’re rushing stage 4.
coolninjaguy 1,239
Thats why I am also fine with it first being administered to high risk groups. With a cost-benefit analysis it’s a matter of life or death for some of them if they contact COVID - so any potential side effects of the vaccine may be worth it. But as a teen, I’m fine with waiting till the end of next year, maybe we’ll know more about the vaccine by then.

Vaccines are never 100% effective. But why approve only a 50% effective vaccine if they made one that’s 90%?

You only need 60% of the population in your country to get vaccinated for this virus to stop circulating

No I think the person said that in GENERAL they accept vaccines that are 50% effective and the fact that this one is apparently 90% is more than good

I believe you are misunderstood the line. 50% is the minimum limit, ofc they will approve ones that is above that when available..
