That Twitter needs to police every account as much as they do this week is necessary, but is essentially a result of their algorithms radicalizing the far-right and far-left. I didn’t say I didn’t agree! You aren’t even listening to me. They absolutely have the right to do so, but I think it’s possible that it becomes an issue, by having unintended consequences that we should be able to discuss. That is all I was saying. They're private companies. What consequences? You being banned? If there's a terrorist attack tomorrow organized by users on Twitter, the government will intervene and probably fine Twitter for failing to properly moderate their platform, but that's because it's illegal to organize a terorist attack everywhere, not only on Twitter. Now, don't ask the government to make Twitter accept everything or almost everything while ignoring the rules they put in place in their own platform. Like I said twice already, you sign a contract when you sign up on social media. This is exactly the purpose of that contract. I'll stop because I'm repeating myself already. American social media having/accepting no goverment intervention is not only causing problems in the USA, it's also causing problems in Europe were American social media platforms have aggresively ousted local platforms and pretend like they never heard about European law. Especially Facebook has been vital in the rise of the European far right/neo nazis because of the lack of intervention from Facebook itself and letting conspiracy theories spread like virus (lol). And it really gives me a stomach ache because as you know... we Germans have words for and expressions for everything and nobody can really deny here that American social media is the epitome of being "auf dem rechten Auge blind" (lit: being blind on the right eye, figuratively meaning being oblivious to the shenanigans and crimes right-wing extremists while also scrutinizing left leaning people to the highest degree possible). While they are platforms that are owned by "private" people, they offer services to the broad general public, heck twitter even became the way most Americans got to know about new laws because of Melania's husband and therefore carry a whole different set of moral responsibility to fact chect things and make sure that... if you say some bullsh*t you get the same amount of sanctions on the platform as you would get if you spewed your bullsh*t on a busy market quare in town to get people to listen to you.
