It was just a few decades ago and he explicitly said, "I believe in white supremacy." He is not someone we should be glorifying. Even if our fave has a song with his name. What's off putting with this whole resurfacing of racist comments from dead people is that it's completely pointless when we should be focusing on today's racism. It's not done as a time capsule but more as witch hunting. And yes the strange desire to somewhat demote a dead icon seem counterproductive when they aren't even known for their racism in the first place. He will still be a dead icon, but if so many people are offended by his racist comments, nothing is wrong changing the name.
