Gaga and Mark Ronson could've made a great jazz/pop album

Hey guys!

In this thread I'll be talking about Gaga x Ronson's potential to make a great jazz influenced pop album!

So first of all, the album that we DID get, Joanne, is a great album!  A couple of my favorite tracks on the album are Diamond Heart, John Wayne, Dancing in Circles, Perfect Illusion, and Hey Girl!  The album also gave us one of Gaga's most iconic/famous ballads, Million Reasons!  For the first time, the world saw Gaga stripped down and take on a totally new genre.  This was extremely brave and daring of her and she deserves to be applauded for that!  I am grateful for this album!

I am a huge fan of Mark Ronson's previous work, most specifically his work with Amy Winehouse.  What they put out together cannot be redone, there cannot be a Back to Black 2.0, we got what we got and it is a masterpiece!

IF the two were ever to work together again, what I would love to see Gaga and Ronson do together is bring Gaga's classic pop & disco sound (as well as her jazz singing talent) and Mark Ronson's jazz/funk/r&b sound and fuse their two sounds together to have a unique jazz/pop album!  They could make a great acid jazz album!  Acid jazz, also known as club jazz, is a music genre that combines elements of jazz, soul, funk, and disco.

I could imagine something like this..

(this one is more on the disco side)

(this one is more on the jazz side)

I also think Gaga would be able to do a great job on a song like this, a more classic jazz & soul kind of song, a little more stripped down.

You can also imagine something like Blueberry Kisses, Ribbons, and some of her other earlier work with R** F*****.

What is one genre you'd love to hear Gaga try in the future?

If Gaga and Mark had gone the Perfect Illusion disco-rock route it could’ve been her best album :selena:

When I heard she was working with Mark Ronson on an album and then hearing what actually came out was quite baffling :triggered:

The country influence in the album ruined it... I really don't get why they took that direction...

They could've made a toned down but still amazing album

Or at least made it like that song he did with Miley Cyrus in 2018

I do agree, while the album is great for what it is, I am not a fan of the overall direction they took with it :/

If Joanne were more Mark Ronson and less Bloodpop, we could have gotten something very stripped back, like very stripped back. It would have been so interesting to hear: live instruments, less production, you name it.

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

I wasn't a big fan of nothing breaks like a heart- however, I do like the sound and direction it went in and I think Gaga could've elevated that sound/genre to something amazing!

I forget that bloodpop was involved in Joanne. I do like dancing in circles, I'd love an album full of songs like that!

at the same time, id love a stripped down album w live instruments, like Back To Black.

Gaga mentioned before that Bloodpop was the reason that the album wasn't more analog. And that if Gaga and Mark were going to a more 'raw' direction, Bloodpop would pull them back. I really am so curious as to how that would have sounded.

I wish we had more demos from the album to hear

So... for the record

Bloodpop has ruined 2 Gaga albums now

For what it's worth, I do love Joanne a bunch. I just think that it could have gone further if she really wanted to showcase a stripped back americana sound.

Also, I LOVE Chromatica, so Bloodpop is not in my list of bad collaborators.

you're right tho. the majority of chromatica sounds generic.
