Will all the people that were on here criticising the BLM protests for lack of social distancing come in here with the same fury? Will these people be blamed for a second spike?

Weird how this site has a BLM banner and yet they allow people to make these posts.

I mean there was no violence at the London BLM protests...

(Before anyone comes for me, I fully supported the BLM protests and fully disapprove of these anti-BLM protests).

Just a nice-to-know: the BLM protests for today weren’t “cancelled” as such. Some smaller protests have still taken place and the big demonstration planned for today was moved forward to Friday (yesterday) to avoid clashes with the far-right demonstrators.

And this thread is far quieter than any of the BLM protest threads. Even about the one in London and those godforsaken statues. Interesting!

As disappointed and disgusted as I am that these white supremacists showed up, I am honestly very proud of the BLM protestors for cancelling to avoid escalation.

We have forgotten our public MANNERS

Wow this thread is so empty! Wonder where all the people are that happened to be so upset about statues???

Yes, I blame anyone who goes outside en masse for a second spike. At least BLM has a great cause and I support them protesting, but this anti-BLM protest is just ridiculous.

Anti-BLM got upset at BLM not social distancing and now they’re out protesting themselves.

Leftists yelled at people wanting to go to certain public places (even with a mask) because they’ll kill grandma, but then they congregate in crowds larger than most I’ve seen weeks later.

The cause is much more important, but coronavirus doesn’t care about causes, it cares about population density. And there’s more population density in the protests than there would be in a shopping mall before lockdown.

I think it’s worth it, personally, but not everyone does, and I can understand why they’d be angry and think that way

BLM protests are necessary, anti-BLM protests are obviously not. So I’ll put more blame on the latter than the former when it comes to a second wave.

Indeed, and I agree with you. But I’m afraid that not everybody would use the logical rationale that you have in terms of what is necessary and what is not. People (white people) definitely used coronavirus and the socially distancing argument as a means to denounce the protests without actually engaging with the need for them in any way. A sense of “oh I support the protests, but....”, “what happened to George Floyd is terrible but shouldn’t they be at home?”. Anything to avoid the matter at hand.

The people on here that were making those arguments about the BLM activities in the UK are conveniently quiet now. And this protest was fuelled purely by toxicity, had far more needless violence and ultimately no cause at all - BLM weren’t even there. I’ve got no idea why everyone isn’t as upset about this. Maybe they should have painted a statue instead of attack living people and the users of GGD would feel more outrage?

(Again, I’m rambling, my points are not actually at you @Chic lol)
