It's the first day of in-person gaming in Nevada since mid-March, when all casinos and machines had to shut down due to COVID-19. Several operators like Station Casinos, which owns Red Rock, opened their properties at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. Las Vegas Strip casinos were scheduled to reopen later in the morning. The Bellagio hosted a special show at its famous fountains to celebrate the occasion, while Wayne Newton helped welcome guests back to Caesars Palace. All gaming venues in Nevada must follow strict protocols to account for COVID-19, including reduced capacity, more spacing on the casino floor and increased sanitation. Las Vegas reopens its casino doors with newly enforced safety measures in place, including temperature checks and plexiglass between players at table games. Red Rock Casino Resort held a grand reopening ceremony, and John and Christie Price were the first guests to check into the hotel. They came from Laguna Beach, California, where John Price said they were going stir-crazy while stuck at home. "I feel excited. I'm ready to lose some money - or win some money," he said. Fans will be pissed but I’d rather lose out than risk getting sick and dealing with the consequences (you never know how one’s body will respond to COVID-19).
