Apart from the commercial success, Rain On Me continues Stupid Love's streak of critical acclaim, both the song and the video. This seems promising for the album reviews that we will get just in a few days. :bradley: Here are some from Wikipedia:

The Independent gave "Rain on Me" four out of five stars, expressing that the song was "three minutes of euphoric melodrama" and a "theatrical and replenishing triumph".
Joey Nolfi of Entertainment Weekly wrote that "Rain on Me" is "taking fans to sonic heaven" with the "therapeutic banger".
Mikale Wood from the Los Angeles Times called it "a fist-pumping self-empowerment jam".
Althea Legapsi of Rolling Stone labelled the song "rejuvenating", noting that the singers offer "a call-and-response exchange" as they "tout the rejuvenating aspects of the situation, despite the metaphorical bad weather sentiments."
Dave Quinn from People highlighted "Grande touching her signature high note octaves" and "Gaga's bold voice" that "echos throughout the track as she sings, "Rain on me" and "Hands up to the sky/I'll be your galaxy"."
Quinn Moreland of Pitchfork praised the song, calling it "a club-ready rush of early '90s house pop", which "draws its power from two women connecting on an emotional level."
Alexa Camp of Slant Magazine (ignore them, they are always negative) opined that "Rain on Me" is "an improvement over 'Stupid Love'", but described the song as "two overzealous vocalists duking it out to see who can out-sing the other over the course of the track’s three chart-maximizing minutes" and criticized the song's bridge.
Craig Jenkins from New York magazine complimented the singers' vocals and the beat, and thought that the song "will be huge", because "it has that nebulous quality memorable pop hits have where the lyric seems distinctly about one thing but also not about anything in particular."
Rania Aniftos from Billboard thought that "the song showcases both Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga's unmatched vocals".
In a rave review, Brenden Wetmore of Paper described the song as "a classic pop romp through a barrage of funk guitar strums and belting vocals, accented by one of the catchiest dance breakdowns of the year so far. "Rain On Me" is absolutely electric by its end, having charged up enough raw emotion and heartbreak to power an entire circuit party's worth of strobe lights."
Matt Melis of Consequence of Sound wrote that "Gaga and Grande have vocal chops for miles", and called it a "dynamite feature". He also thought that "it’s the release all of us have needed at least a couple dozen times during this pandemic", while highlighting its uplifting message: "No matter how bad the storm gets, we will endure and perhaps come out a little cleaner on the other side for the pain."

For the music video:

Amy Mackelden from Harper's Bazaar thought that the music video "is nothing short of iconic", and "features dramatic costume changes, and killer dance moves".
Erin Vanderhoof from Vanity Fair called it a "lavishly produced and animated video" with "TikTok–friendly" dance moves, and found it "a bit of nostalgia to [...] the pre-coronavirus days".
Stefanee Wang from Nylon complimented the performance of Gaga and Ariana in the video, saying that "neither of them miss a single beat". She added that the visual for the song "makes a convincing case that, when the world falls, society should really just become a huge dance party.
Brendan Wetmore from Paper found the video "equally as sparkly" as the single, "putting the two '10s dance-pop icons alongside each other for a riot in the rain."
Critics found inspirations in the video from Blade Runner and Mortal Kombat.

Song of the Year - Rain On Me
Record of the Year - Rain On Me
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance - Rain On Me AND/OR Sine from Above/Sour Candy
Best Pop Solo Performance - Stupid Love AND/OR Babylon AND/OR 1000 Doves
Album of the Year - Chromatica

possible? I don't see it being far-fetched considering how many musicians have pushed back their releases. I see The Weeknd as a threat to Album of the Year and also all categories Blinding Lights is eligible in but I wouldn't worry too much about other major pop stars like Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.

Gaga has a real chance of winning AOTY yall, if she persists to promote harder than The Weeknd.

I like Rain on Me, but it will be difficult to compete with Say So, the best pop song of all time by Nicki Queenaj, and Daisies by Katy. :bon:

I think it’ll become her biggest collaboration even more than Telephone, can’t wait to see them perform it live together next year. I’m sure Gaga will invite her to perform it once at the Chromatica Ball.

i can easily see it winning some VMAs (if eligible) and maybe a GRAMMY for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance

Don't forget when Adelle pops up to take all the grammys, this praise may be worth more than some golden figurines Gagz already has earned in the past.

I REALLY want her to get at least one of the big 4 in Grammys, but I have no hopes whatsoever for AOTY tbh. I don't think they'll award another white woman two years back to back because they'll be accused of racism if they do, regardless of merit :triggered:

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

She’s not releasing before the deadline and even if she did, pop duo and best music video seems to be on lock as of now.

They awarded Kacey and Billie back to back. That’s not an excuse.
