Before I start, I wanna say I LOVE the song. It's the best Gaga song, Shallow aside, that I've heard since her early career. Any criticism I make is not hate or disappointment. 

We've always wanted to hear Gaga take on this genre, and now we have. It's a massive dance track with two amazing vocals. I love how they both do their thing and add to the track with Ariana's signature vocal flicks and Gaga's signature androgynous speaking voice doing the 'Rain on me' during the chorus. The piano based house beat is amazing. I also like how it doesn't sound like a feature or a cut and paste vocal, it really does sound like a collaboration and I don't think she's ever had a song like that. Even the Beyonce collab was just a random Beyonce verse that felt out of place. Gaga + Ari make a great power duo. I was hoping for a 'GAGA, ARIANA' vocal in the track somewhere, but nevermind.

I do feel though, objectively, the song's build up in the pre-chorus - the verse and then the 'it's coming down on me' section is MASTERFUL and outshines the rest of the track. After this, though the chorus does mostly live up to the hype, but I feel it could have been bigger. I wanted something else to happen after the first chorus at least, another hook or a new instrumental. Though I do admire how Gaga dared to include a wacky ARTPOP-style bridge about Galaxies and flying into the sky, it ended up being the weakest part of the track for me, I find it forgettable and I think it should have been replaced or revised. Also, I was waiting the whole time for an explosion into a massive dance break that never happened. In the leak I heard, they played with the pitches of their voices, like the backing vocal "Rain on me me me me" was pitched right down - it just gave the chorus this massive anthem feeling with a bigger sounding bass. I wish they'd played with pitches more in the final version and went a little more wild with instrumental breaks.

I feel like Gaga refrained from going too crazy and has carefully designed the track for radio. Though, let's be real, Gaga really needs a pop hit now and she knows it.

I'm just gonna need a Gaga full dance album one day that commits to being HAUS / DANCE and has 7 / 8 minute songs of some of the best sounding grooves and beats ever made. Think 'Just Dance' by Bowie. It's clear now Chromatica isn't gonna be that album, which is fine! It's shaping up to be maybe her best album musically anyway. Maybe we have to wait for some maturing before we hear a classic like that.

Regardless, it's an amazing song. Anyone saying it sucks has no taste.

Oooooh never thought of this. I hear it in my head now and it is so good.
