Stupid Love would be one of the better songs on Chromatica

Great news if you really like the song. Not so great news if you're expecting the rest of the album to be better. 

But let me tell you why. Lady Gaga always releases her best songs first as lead singles or as promo singles. 

Just judging on what her fanbases likes the most from polls voting for her best songs over the years, to Twitter to how much her non singles are streamed, this fan base loves the songs she releases before her album cycles. 

Born This Way, Judas, The Edge of Glory are all the fan favorites on the album and what we consider to be some of her best. Applause, Venus, Do What You Want are the favorites from ARTPOP. Million Reasons and A-Yo are the favorites from Joanne. She kinda dropped the ball on Perfect Illusion. But plenty of fans are starting to defend it. The Fame is the exception, she saved the best singles for later. But we can all agree Just Dance is up there. 

And if we look at just her lead singles, Bad Romance, Born This Way, Applause are all considered top five in her discography. 

"But my favorite songs are *insert this random undercut*" and that might be nice, but every poll and list I see that asks fans to contribute their favorites, always goes back to her popular singles before the album's release. 

So if she decides to release promo singles and a second single before Chromatica, those songs and Stupid Love are what we're going to enjoy the most, what Gaga and her team consider to be the best to promote it. And if you think I'm wrong, I witnessed fans hoping Born This Way, Applause, Perfect Illusion would be the weakest songs. 

Stupid Love is going to define the sound on Chromatica just like Just Dance and Bad Romance defined the sound for The Fame/The Fame Monster, Born This Way defined half the album, Applause defined the whole ARTPOP's sound, A-Yo and Million Reasons did for Joanne.

But wasn't Stupid Love's release dictated by a hacker where this hasn't been a factor before? Like she said, SL must have been the hackers favourite so they went with it... Or something like that 

Either way, as a personal preference, I hope I consider most of the songs to be better than Stupid Love...

It seems like a radio safe choice, not a contender for best song.

I mean, I love stupid love, but it was the hackers fault for leaking it lmao, I'm pretty sure there will be way better songs on the album. She was kinda forced to put it as a lead single.

No. More like the first single she releases is the most easily accessible for maximum radio consumption.

i hated applause, born this way is not top tier on that album, perfect illusion did not represent Joanne as a whole.

So if she decided to release a single, film a video for it, and planned promotion for it all because a hacker leaked it, she must really like the song that much. It could've always been scrapped off the album and a different song could've been chosen as a single.

And if it was already planned to be a single before that, that just proves my point.

She hinted at it even before the leaks happened though. I think she always knew that it would be the lead single.
