Germany's chief virologist Christian Drosten said there was insufficient data to conclusively say young children could not transmit the virus.

He said several studies have come to different conclusions on whether children contracted the virus and how they might pass it on.

 

That's a risky move to do on inconclusive data.

It's not like they're immune to the virus, children have most definitely had and died from the virus

Elementary schools were the first ones to reopen in some European countries. 

The data shows that children are the least affected group by this, but I didnt read any study that says that they cant transmit the virus.
