Robagaga 9,345 Posted April 13, 2020 Share Posted April 13, 2020 Hello and welcome to the Tiger King Megarate During this crazy quarantine I think it is fair to say that almost everyone has become obsessed with the Netflix true crime series: Tiger King. This show truly is one of kind, however I feel correct in saying that the main reason everyone became obsessed with this show is the crazy cast of characters. Each one is weirder, more unusual than the other and every character is extremely polarising meaning you usually love them or HATE them. If you haven't watched the show I urge you to go see it as soon as possible and then come back. Trust me, you will want to voice your opinion. INSTRUCTIONS This megarate works in a bit of an unusual way. You will not be giving each character a score out of 10 and giving your fave an 11. Instead we will work on a ranking system. You will rank your characters from least favourite to most favourite. Then, I will give your favourite character a point bump in order to reflect the fact that they are your fave. Feel free to also add comments for each character justifying your choice and I will choose the best comments out of the bunch. In order to participate send me a PM titled Tiger King Megarate with your ranking. DEADLINES The deadline for submission is on the 24th of April The Ceremony will be on the 30th of April If you somehow haven't seen the show yet this gives you plenty of time to binge. His claim to fame is probably being shirtless during the whole confessionals part of the documentary. Finlay met Exotic when he was just 19 years old, and the two were quickly married. Finlay stayed in a relationship with him from 2003 to 2014. He then cheated on him with the secretary Amber with whom he still is today, with the two of them having a kid together. Travis Maldonado Travis was 19 years old when he met Joe and they got married only a month after meeting. He reportedly had a history of drug addiction, and Tiger King alleges that Malonado and Exotic’s relationship was primarily based around drugs. Maldonado expressed feeling trapped and controlled by Exotic, per the docuseries. One day, after venting about how unhappy he was to Joshua Dial, Exotic’s then-campaign manager, Maldonado accidentally shot himself and died. Dillon Passage Dillon met joe on the dating app Grindr, after going on a few dates he quickly became enamoured with the eccentric zoo keeper. Reinke started out as a professional bungee jumper who lost both of his legs when he fell from the lines one day. He chose to have them both amputated. In 2007, Reinke took his family to Exotic’s zoo and fell in love with the place. He came on as manager the same year, moving in and leaving his family behind in Texas. We know from the docuseries that he ended up leaving his wife and probably starting a new career working on race cars Erik Cowie Cowie was GW Zoo’s head keeper. He found the gig on craigslist and although initially befriending Joe he eventually became tired of his antic. He ended up testifying against Exotic in April 2019. Originally appearing to be one of the least kooky zoo owners out there, it is slowly revealed that this eccentric Yoga master might be running some sort of sex cult in his zoo. The weirdness gets bigger when we find out that Bhagavan means lord and that all his "Wives" call him that all the time. Definetely a weird one. Jeff Lowe If there’s one word that best sums up Lowe’s persona, it’s sleazy. Lowe’s questionable backstory includes illegally carrying lion and tiger cubs in suitcases through hotels in Las Vegas and a description as a “swinger,” . After Joe's legal troubles with Carol he buys the zoo off him and although the way he got the zoo is sleazy allegedly the animals have been receiving better treatment since. Despite his involvement in the murder-fire-hire scheme that ultimately winds up being the downfall of Exotic, Lowe escapes unscathed by cooperating with federal agents to save his own skin. Rick Kirkham Kirkham is the closest thing there is to an all-knowing narrator. His role as a television producer of the web series Joe Exotic TV allowed him to take a front-row seat to the daily shenanigans of Joe Exotic and G.W. Zoo. That chapter of his life came to an abrupt close when the studio that housed his footage for the series was lost in a mysterious fire on the property that also claimed two reptile enclosures (including some that once belonged to Michael Jackson). He’s still one of the more subdued personalities despite his role as an authoritative driver of the narrative as he dons a cowboy hat while taking drags from cigarettes. The biggest possible skeleton in her closet (or somewhere in her Big Cat Rescue sanctuary) is the strange disappearance of her first husband, Don Lewis. Did she feed him to a tiger? Is he in the property’s septic tank? Did he flee to Costa Rica only to never be heard from again? SO MUCH MYSTERY. And, of course, there’s the entire, you know, fact her biggest adversary hatched a plot to have her murdered. Baskin is not perfect by any means. Is she the protagonist of the story? Is she an anti-hero? Her portrayal in Tiger King presents a mixed bag that leaves a complex assumption up to the viewers. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind.
