Maleficent speaks his/her mind. Gotta respect that

I still don't have a solid opinion on whether the severity of response is worth the damage it does to so many ppls lives

I'm still on the fence about it tbh

The world is a brutal, ruthless place that often deals us heavy blows. And in our efforts to mitigate that, we just might end up doing the opposite :spin:

But we can't really know that yet. So, to put it in the words of the good sis Katheryn:

Buckle up folks :poot:

Im so sorry to all of you Canadians out there. Feel free to hop the border to the US when things start crashing and burning :billie: But it’s not going to be better over here :billie: I guess we're all f***ed :billie:

Sis, I indeed read the OP. Sis, did you not read what I wrote? Sis I clearly wasn’t speaking highly of the US at all! But sis, history has shown us repeatedly that printing money is literally NOT a solution. Sis you can always room with me when the majority of your country is in poverty but the wealthy are magically... still wealthy. :emma:

U just implied that there was an improvement to run away from Canada... Even tho at least we're just starting this while Europe, Japan and USA have been doing this for time :ladyhaha:

and I know it's dangerous I don't like the idea of money printing either :emma:

At least the money made from QE is more controllable and removable from system if it causes inflation problems...

its not quite the same as money printed and thrown in general economy like Germany did after world war or Zimbabwe

Sis, correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t you a straight male? If so I think it’s a little inappropriate for you to refer to a gay person as “sis”. The connotations of when a straight male calls a little f*g “sis” isn’t the same as when us gays refer to each other that way.

And sis, I literally hate my country. Every single aspect of it. I’m absolutely aware that we’ve printed money irresponsibly. Hence why I literally said “thats always worked in the past” (that’s irony) and “but it’s not going to be better here”

I literally can’t with you :billie:

edit: I thought I was responding to @Economy so disregard this.

I've always been critical of QE and use it as an absolute last resort

Never thought Canada would resort to it tho we always had a hawkish Central Banker

In fact before corona at 1.75% we had the highest rates in the developed world (after the US cuts went below that)

Oil...they have few options in the short term....

After covid economic effects calm down it will be re evsluated....

like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true

If corona lifts oil may stay very low for a while. Maybe not $20/barrel but definitely not much more than $30

OPEC has surged production to go Into war with US shale for market share and more production with decreased demand is filling up storage quickly

Even a small surplus imbalance later only will keep prices very suppressed if storage is near capacity

I suspect we may get a short term rally in oil prices once covid-19 calms down and there's better hope for economy...

But it won't last once investors realize the market will still be too supplied and prices will drop again

Unless OPEC chooses to end the surge and market share war at the same time that economy improves only then can we have a sustained improvement in prices

Otherwise, even if we get improvement in Covid-19 soon and increase in demand again, I still suspect prices will remain very low for at least another year

To get a sustainable and meaningful rally anytime soon we will need rapid bounce back in economy AND have OPEC back down from the war. Both have to happen
