Gaga’s reason for postponing the era - thoughts?

It's possible Gaga  herself and the BTW foundation are coordinating to help where they can and maybe that is taking her time.

That seems more likely given what we know about Gaga than you all assuming shes Netflix and chilling with Michael and waiting for a better sales opportunity.

She is also probably very stressed about her family in NY and all her friends there.

You all have created this negative narrative that all Gaga cares about is money because she does projects you don't like, and I guess you've all forgotten about the kind and caring woman underneath that has actual empathy for people and their problems.

Fanbase needs renamed to Little Narcissists.

REALITY

I think on a more "human" level, yeah, she thought it wouldn't be appropriate to release an album at this time.

That said, on a business, but also an artistic, level, the reason for postponing the era was the promo. I think that's clear. She mentioned Coachella and she said she had lot of surprises for us that she unfortunately had to cancel. I suspect that she wanted BTW-level promo for Chromatica. She could've just released the album and done minimal promo (which tbh, I'd be okay with), but it's clear that she wants this era to go out how she originally envisioned it.

What do you think of this ladies?

Well, I'm sure it is that in part (not feeling right)....but there are layers. I said this in other posts, but if she drops a colorful, campy album right at the peak of the pandemic in NYC...most of the media won't be paying attention, but the little that will be like "not now, Gaga, tone deaf/wrong time/etc." As of now, people are predicting that we will be like Italy...in about 2-3 weeks. Fans trending Chromatic on twitter, even if she remained silent, it...would be a hot mess.

But the biggest part (which she obviously can't say) is that Interscope would lose so much money if they released it now because Gaga does a lot of physical sales. Not only that, but streaming and digital sales are down & people will be tightening their purse strings even more in a few weeks.

I'm glad she's thinking about the physical albums she's not gonna ship rather than sticking to the whole "dancing through the pain" concept she had going on.

Bling not the music

You do know this decisions come from the label right? This artists don’t control anything regarding the release dates of their singles and albums, their labels do. This is not a decision made entirely by Gaga. She’s not an independent artist. The same way Dua was forced to release her album bc it leaked, when you can tell she didn’t want that.

I do know and I do know that she has just accepted it after delaying her initial release for 12 months prior. She JUST renewed her contract. You'd think she'd get more say in this.

Dua pushed her album forward by one week. Not pushed back like Gaga did amid leaks lol

Yep. The fact that people think Gaga has complete control over when she releases....she'd be the most powerful artist around. The only ones who can make the final decision on that sort of thing are the ones who have their own label.

I think it’s for the best. We wouldn’t have enjoyed it cause even if she did promo it wouldn’t have been the usual kind of promo we like

Did she delay her initial release by 12 months tho? It seems like she was literally in the studio, still, in December wrapping sh*t up.  Plus, it's only been about a year and a half from ASIB...it's hard to buy she would have dropped an album a month or two after the Oscars.

I sure know I'll be busy getting essential medical equipment to healthcare professionals and making sure kids get school meals while I'm locked up in isolation. :teehee:

This... The vast majority of us can't do anything for the next, what, month? Two months? Maybe it's just disappointment setting in, but I'm genuinely not following her logic.

At the end of the day, it's not a good time for this. At all.

It's a real bad time to promote an album with everything right now centering on the virus. It's not her fault we're in a global pandemic.

She did the right thing. I just wish that she wasn't being threatened.

Well yes that’s what I was saying. She was forced to release it earlier bc it leaked. She was clearly very upset about the whole thing in her IG live. But well, at least she had already done a whole era, Gaga hadn’t.

Also, I don't think she postponed the era ... the era started when SL was released. She said she's announcing stuff very soon. Only the album release date is postponed. And what a hell of a celebration it's going to be. :) Sending love ❤️

I don’t want Chromatica to be remembered as “the pandemic era” or “the era that could have been.” I’d rather wait a few more months and do it the right way. Fully support Gaga on this one.

I think this was to be excepted. It's better for her to serve us an incredible era than a mediocre zero-promo era.
