EU condemns US travel ban

I‘m from the EU & may not be able to come for Enigma if the ban gets extended. And still I think it’s the right decision. It’s better than just keep on letting everything happen like the EU is doing.

Ammm no it’s not? :saladga: The virus is already there and he’s doing nothing to stop people from spreading it. He is literally doing nothing for that matter. Banning people from entering or leaving the country when the virus is already there and spreading rapidly without them even testing people is so stupid and so ignorant. This is literally the decision a 10 year old child who has no logical ability would make.

That is also true. He is blaming every other country while doing nothing within the US.

There are other more practical and economically better ways to do that.. Banning people from leaving or entering the country is probably the worst one..

Yes there are but I don't think there is a more effective one : if you take it to the extreme and lock everyone in their home the virus won't spread.

Of course it's not a pleasing solution but with this kind of global threat you have to take drastic solutions.

I do agree with you that an exception must be made for people who are abroad their country and want to go back home.

What's the point of only banning travel from Europe? I have yet to get an answer.

Also, this clearly wasn't a good idea considering it crashed the markets once again. The consequences are much bigger than this. And people who think it's a good idea because it'll somehow stop the virus need to think bigger. This is yet another mistake of the Trump admin in the handling of the virus.

And why he would have to "consult" them? Italy and other parts of Europe are in a very bad situation. They should be the first ones to understand.

Trump's just playing politics with the EU & China. He's so predictable.

No. He's trying to contain the virus and protect its spread. This will be effective. How is everyone not seeing that? No one seeing it because it's Trump doing it and that automatically means CONDEMN THE DECISION.

I'm not saying it was a bad decision, I'm saying that he's going about it in a political manor. He should have included England in the ban, but they were exempted because???

Well, while it is stupid to do it without consulting with Europe because it can have bad economical and political consequences, it is simply the best solution to stop the virus from spreading.

yes but also not really.

to make a travel ban this late in the game actually doesn’t do anything but to spread mass panic. The virus is already in the states. Ut can take up to 24 days to shown sign of the virus. So it’s already spreading without anyone knowing. This is devestating news for international relations and a very irresponsible move

so that means other people in countries affected with the virus should come and add more :oprah:

Ugh I'm so worried because I'm supposed to be coming back to the US next month

I'm a US citizen, have to change flights in London so technically I'll be coming from the UK, and the date is just after these 30 days but I'm still so worried. Especially about flights being cancelled..

I can't afford an expensive a$$ ticket..

But let's just allow travel and continue to allow it to spread internationally instead? Ok

Banning countries from traveling has been proven very ineffective in stopping the virus from spreading. Now that is not me just saying it but WHO themselves. This can be seen in Italy, who became the first country in Europe to ban flights from China. Even their best efforts to stop the spread, Italy has been hit worst by Corona. This goes to show that if a community already has it is almost impossible to contain.

as for Trump. The ban is not banning the UK, and the UK (while not part of the EU anymore) hasn’t contained the virus themselves and aren’t doing excessive amounts of screenings at airports.

this is solely a power move by trump that will only make matters worse

His decision is not beneficial in any way and you arguing for it won’t change that fact. Like I said virus is already spread internationally and he is not doing anything to stop the internal spreading of it. Again - What he’s doing rn is not beneficial at all. I can see why some could think it is, but it’s really not. There are better ways to do this.

Him banning the travel won’t change the fact that the virus is already rapidly spreading and that USA are not even testing people. Maybe he should think about that.
