Prince Harry 'duped by Greta Thunberg call' Russian pranksters say

Two Russian pranksters claim they duped the Duke of Sussex into making comments about quitting the Royal Family.

One of the pair, Alexey Stolyarov, told the BBC Prince Harry discussed various issues after they impersonated teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg and her father in two phone calls.

In the calls, Prince Harry is said to criticise Donald Trump over climate change and describe his decision to end official royal duties as "not easy".

Buckingham Palace did not comment.

The Sun reported on Wednesday that, in one call, Harry said of his decision to step back as a senior royal: "Sometimes the right decision isn't always the easy one."

"And this decision certainly wasn't the easy one but it was the right decision for our family, the right decision to be able to protect my son," the duke added, according to the Sun.

"And I think there's a hell of a lot of people around the world that can identify and respect us for putting our family first."

In another extract published online, Harry is said to remark of climate policies in the US: "I think the mere fact that Donald Trump is pushing the coal industry so big in America, he has blood on his hands."

This isn’t the first time they’ve done this:

Prince Harry’s hoaxers have been hoodwinking the great and good with bogus calls for years and count Elton John and "Joker" actor Joaquin Phoenix, among their many victims.

Vovan and Lexus have also duped U.S. presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Russians post their phone chats online to their YouTube channel vovan222prank.

Last month, they convinced Sanders he was chatting to Swedish ecoactivist Greta Thunberg. They promised him she could arrange for Kanye West and Billie Eilish to perform a “cool rap” for his Democrat campaign. Delighted, Sanders replied: “They would be willing to do something on the internet?”

In 2015, they had Elton believing he was chatting to Vladimir Putin about laws on gay rights in Russia. The singer, believing he was talking through an interpreter, said it was “a great privilege to … speak to one of the most influential people in the whole world”.

President Putin did call Elton to clear up the gaffe. In another audio, the pair tricked U.S. congresswoman Maxine Waters into believing she was helping to support people in need on the fictional island of Chunga-Changa. The pranksters deny claims they are “Putin Puppets” who target Western celebrities and politicians to make them look stupid.

I just don’t find these kind of “pranks” funny. I imagine if it was me I would feel disrespected and angry. I hate what some people think is funny these days.

I’ll keep looking for Wonderland

Hmmmm, idk if fox can count as proof :selena:

But I guess if this is true, that's kinda sad... This is probably framed as 'look at these gullible celebrities', but from the sound of it, the people they talk to are earnest, and they probably don't have a reason to be skeptical... These 'pranksters' are kinda scummy for doing this :wtf:

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

For someone with so much security around him, it's beyond me how he's open to pranks like this and he doesn't require more verification before dealing with calls. Nothing he said was that bad, all things considered but saying that he doesn't use planes any more than the average person who goes away for a weekend or a week's holiday is so shortsighted of what the average person is like. I've only been on a plane 6 times in my life and the last time was in 2011. Most of us can't afford to be jetting off as much as they do. Even people who do take short breaks don't use planes in a single year as much as he does and when they do, they're not taking up a whole plane for themselves. And when asked about Andrew, he just said that he didn't have much to say about that and stressed that he and Meghan had nothing to do with him. That, to me, is the biggest error. How can the accusations be something you don't have much to say about when it's your own family? He never said anything about being disgusted, all he could think about was distancing himself and Meghan away from him, which isn't something anyone was accusing him of anyway. He was all about saving the pair of them and throwing the rest of his family under the bus as he didn't defend them saying they're innocent in all this as well.

To be a fly on the wall at Buckingham Palace right now. They must all be wondering how he manages to get himself into mess after mess. This could encourage more people to call him up but this time pretending to be Meghan. We'd really get some dirty laundry there.
