Controversiaga 13,970
now that mayhem is coming to an end, Gaga’s next era is prob a couple years away.. After artflop, Jolene, and Flopmatica, I don’t think ANY of us expect Gaga to have an era better than her last 3 combined… so what should/shouldn’t we expect for the next era?? which era will LG8 feel most like? The fame? The fame monster? Btw? ARTPOP? Joanne? Chromatica? Or mayhem? Id love the next era to be as successful as Mayhem, or better- of course, but I just do not know what will happen Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

Raivo 200
I think it will be most like Joanne. Gaga will sing about: cooking pasta for Father Monster; Wanting or having babies; riding a horse; walking in meadow; drinking tea on a porch and swinging in a hammock. What I would hope for is era like Chromatica OG concept without the pandemic. Storyline, concept, specific location driven. More house inspired EDM, but more experimental. Insane visuals, colors, not boring black and white shift we've had so much of.

palma 8,896
I think the soundscape of MAYHEM Requiem is the best indication we have and somehow it's closest to the og MAYHEM (not the lyrics or chord progression or whatever but the feel of the songs). So yeah. I think it'll be a transformation a la TFM > BTW (which is a drastic reinvention for any other artist but for Gaga it feels like a quite natural next chapter). Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something? 2
MountainMonster 2,288
Robo-synth, post apocalyptic, dystopic dance music. Relatable content.
NightcallSmile 51
I think Mayhem, not because it's going to be a re-do, but because it will be a natural continuation of Mayhem, leaning into some of the sounds of that album, but also going into a different direction. Post-ARTPOP, Gaga's pop studio albums were very fragmented - she went from EDM to country and then did a 180 to house music. I think with Mayhem, she was able to synthesize her different facets into a pop album. Ultimately, that's kind of the concept of the era (chaos, mayhem, broken/fragmented mirror). I think the era of sudden radical shifts is over (at least for now), and the next era will be more of a progression rather than a shift. And I think this is for the better - Gaga is in a perfect position to deepen her artistry, she's built immense audience trust, I think it's a great time for something a bit more experimental (though ultimately it'll be a pop album for sure). 5

Speaking of Joanne, ARTPOP, and Chroma I don't want a single-word title album this time around Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something? Just now, MountainMonster said: Robo-synth, post apocalyptic, dystopic dance music. Relatable content. Yeah this too. I mean, presumably Gaga is already quite deep into LG8, as she has mentioned working on new music since October last year... and there have been rumours about Giorgio Moroder and The Weeknd for a while now (the latter she basically confirmed). So I think Requiem's direction is a hint of what's to come. I might be wrong but it feels like the arrangements and aesthetics where way too elaborate and well done for it to be something that she just did off the cuff. It feels like she's inhabiting this space for some time at least.
NightcallSmile 51
Okay I'll just add other than Mayhem, there might be something ARTPOP about next era. I'm thinking ARTPOP's ambition/wildness but through the precision and professionalism of Mayhem if you will. Not sure if this makes sense. 5 1
Dutch 93,984
I feel like a synth heavier MAYHEM and maybe a EDM heavier MAYHEM. So MAYHEM Requiem mixed with Haute and Freddy I guess? But at the same time I can see her go for something completely different and she will go for something like LUX, mostly based on orchestral instruments. Digging deeper in that opera part of The MAYHEM Ball. 1 1

Industrial synthpop with elements of heavier classical/opera We have forgotten our public MANNERS 2 3

Yes I need more synth dance ala abracadabra. i LOVE SHAPE OF A WOMAN, but I don’t want to hear another disco funk groovy song from her Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . TEANUS 16,092
I think Abracadabra (Rock Version) and Requiem are pointers towards what’s next and I hope it will be like MAYHEM in the sense that she feels confident, comfortable, and proud to be doing it British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
