To be clear, it is now a much more wider issue than the reform itself. People are mad, this government only acts for private interests and keep mocking the public opinion. They are going to use a very extreme decree (that is normally only used in tragic situations) to pass the law. @Economy If you have time for better understanding of the situation, look up how the BlackRock investment corporation is involved with the law project. nb: they have waited a saturday evening(!?) to announce that and conveniently stated that now, gatherings with 5000+ people are cancelled due to coronavirus. Those who are complaining and protesting, how are they expecting their money to last? I mean, while working we are also saving for our pension, but if you retire too soon it won't be enough. True but it's not like Countries are increasing the rates even close to how much life expectancy has gone up The reforms around the world are small in comparison and I think perfectly reasonable under the circumstances tbh For decades there was no adjustments whatsoever. What do people expect? And most jobs now a days are not even that Physical. At some point or another adjustments have to come in. For decades longer and longer life spans and lower birth rates did not result in reforms. We been spoiled if u ask me At some point or another there has to be adjustments I mean where do we draw the line? What if some promising revolutionary treatments like organ replacements become available and life expectancy goes to 100 for example? What about 110? I don't know what ppl consider reasonable or when we should finally increase retirement age but at some point it think it has to happen. I'm ok with the retirement age increasing but i find it a bit dishonest from the government to do it like this. Most countries have early retirement options Like in Canada you can retire as early as 60 but each month u retire before 65 costs u on your benefits while each month u work past 65 earns u a permanent bonus There's a range u can technically retire but that Standard normal benefit is 65 So from my understanding the normal benefit age is now 64 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
