In my opinion, it is inhibiting the learning and development of artificial intelligence. If the software needs to understand who it is dealing with (in the future), it must learn all kinds of features and different matches. Regardless of political and social correctness Only one developer had balls to say that companies interested in this technology will simply go to the competition and use their services. But, on the other hand, gender is a very real social concept in our modern society, so it is kind of awkward to craft your AI in a way that doesn't recognize its existence. But to be offended over sex is just weird because it exists whether you like it or not. Gender is just a social construct assigned by society. Technology doesn't benefit from that label, so there's no use in it. You'd think gay people would be understandable given the prejudice and discrimination against them but I guess nahh Like why should and how could AI determine such things anyway based on PICTURES? Do it based on stereotypes of masculinity and femininity? Those stereotypes themselves are social constructions and not even necessarily related to physical anatomy.
