I think people prefer to rate an album since those aren't as huge. Huge megarates is not that hard for fans, but it is for casual listeners.

But, I would be here for it to split the albums! We should totally do that:firega:

BLASPHEMY! Rhythm Nation is at least in the top two

Occasionally it hits top 2 but as of late I’m really enjoying her less overtly political albums, dunno why! I like when she embraces and explores sexuality! Discipline is her most underrated body of work!!! It’s very subversive and Grace Jones and Prince would be very proud!!!

Yass 80's perfection!:firega: How would you rank her albums?

Control > Janet > Rhythm Nation > Damita Jo > The Velvet Rope > All For You > Unbreakable > 20YO > Discipline

The first six are very close and interchanhable depending on my mood.  Unbreakable is a tier below those and the other two are far below Unbreakable. We don't claim the mixtapes :huntyga:

How would your ranking be?

They shipped it, but it got shipped back

Loving the Top 5!:diane: My order depends a lot on my mood too. She truly has an album for every mood huh:diane:

Damita Jo > Rhythm Nation > Janet. > The Velvet Rope > Discipline > Unbreakable > 20 Y.O. > All For You > Janet Jackson > Dream Street

Seeing your list you probably won't agree with Discipline and All For You:selena:

The only album i've listened to in full is Damita Jo. I tend to like her sexier songs  like Burnitup, Rock With U, Feedback, All Night, Throb.

Rhythm Nation 1814

Miss You Much, Escapade, And Love Will Never Do are a Trinity of perfection alone.

Then the concept songs, Rhythm Nation, State of the World, Knowledge, and Living In a World And the interludes really make this album something different.

And then Black Cat is an absolute jam!

And the huge industrial sound. It’s more polished on this album than in Control.

janet. would be my second favorite. I love the more sensual sound too!

She truly does. Such a diverse queen :queenga:

While I don't agree on Discipline and All For You, I can see why you'd put them in that order. All For You has some fillers (like Love Scene),  but its highlights lift it above Unbreakable for me. Discipline has some strong songs as well (like Feedback and Luv) but I'm not a fan of the album because it lacks Janet's personality. But I totally respect that you love it, the album seems to be loved by many fans.

And I'm not going to judge, I mean I like Pretty Girls and Give Me All Your Luvin and hate the Art of Letting Go:laughga: My taste has been questioned a few times in the past :selena:

Sooooo tough.  Everything between Control and All For You were masterpieces created with her and Jimmy Jam / Terry Lewis producers.  Then, to me at least, everything between Damita Jo and Discipline fell off.  Then she was back to form with Unbreakable.

I think my FAVORITE is Rhythm Nation (I believe it still holds the record for most singles from one album that went top 5 on Billboard Hot 100).  Velvet Rope is a close 2nd, and 2015's Unbreakable blew me away to be perfectly honest.  It was an updated, more grown up Velvet Rope in its tone full of incredible songwriting.  I can listen to it from beginning to end in one sitting.
