Iowa: Too Close to Call, Results Filled with Inconsistencies & Flaws

This thread is to debunk false claims that there is a "winner" or that the results are final or even accurate, as explained by various sources including the AP and the New York Times.

Iowa caucus remains too close to call with 100% of precincts reporting.

Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders have remained neck-and-neck for most of the week, and the Associated Press declared on Thursday evening that the race was still too close to call.

The results come in a contest marred by fresh revelations about technical issues and reporting delays that have led to allegations of inaccuracy.

However, the controversies that have dogged the vote since results tallying problems emerged almost as soon as polls closed continued on Thursday. The New York Times reported that one tranche of results released by the state Democratic party on Wednesday were “riddled with inconsistencies and other flaws”.

The paper said that its own reporting showed that: “In some cases, vote tallies do not add up. In others, precincts are shown allotting the wrong number of delegates to certain candidates. And in at least a few cases, the Iowa Democratic party’s reported results do not match those reported by the precincts.

So, not only do the results the IDP released not add up, but in some cases results they've released don't even match those reported by the the precincts.

If that doesn't worry people, or not make you question what's going on and the legitimacy of the results, then idk what will...

Welcome to the 21st century, America. Just let people vote and let the one with the most votes win.

Well they do state that Sanders and Buttigieg are in a virtual tie, with a 0.1% difference in the SDEs between them. Coupled with the inconsistencies and errors, many sources are not comfortable with stating a winner.

Furthermore, it's likely Sanders should have been given SDEs that for whatever reason he wasn't given by the IDP, eventhough according to precinct data he should have been.

Eighteen

this is what happens when you have people going around manually counting people, yelling from across the room to convey numbers to write down on a white board, when you have people moving around, recounting them, rewriting numbers, and on and on. i am so not surprised that this method of voting has inconsistencies once people start to analyze the results this closely. but yeah keep going with the caucusing.

Yeah Pete spent a lot on Iowa and Iowa is also 91% white which is his main base

I don't expect him to perform as well going forward

That being said I was a little surprised. I expected Biden to perform a little higher and Pete a little lower

Gotta love people who ignore actual facts and keep running with a false narrative made up out of inaccurate data :ladyhaha:

Iowa has proven how Democrats don’t actually care about democracy or people of color’s votes being thrown in the trash.

A “win” full of inaccurate numbers isn’t something to be proud of.

The fact people are celebrating Pete’s win is disgusting.

Don’t pretend to care about democracy.
