It's often pointed out that he would lose centrists; however, when we say centrists, we should clarify what we mean. Bernie would lose the more white and affluent members of the democratic party, who (I'm pretty sure) are disproportionately located in democratic strongholds that Bernie isn't going to lose.

Bernie does poll better with independents than Trump. It's not like Left = Democrat, Independents  = Center & Republicans = Right. Independents aren't ideologically in the middle. What Bernie brings and he does this less now than he did in 2016 but he focuses primarily on economic and domestic issues rather than social and cultural issues (i.e. abortion, immigration [this has changed a lot since 2016], guns, etc). Bernie has the pulse on independents. The majority of our country are economically progressive and closer to the center on social issues. I mean, the country was founded by puritans and such. A Sanders campaign focused on the issues that will make the difference in real people's lives is not a campaign that is suspect to lose in a general election. Not to mention that almost every head to head poll done since 2015 has Bernie beating Trump, albeit he wins by smaller margins now than back then.

How many Americans are typically independents tho? Almost everyone seems to identify either as Republican or Democratic

Whispering

All MSN stations are on the Impeachment 24/7. On Sunday afternoon and night it was al, Kobe, then back to Impeachment.

No one is giving any attention to the Democratic nomination right now. The timing couldn’t be better for Bernie’s surge and Iowa coming up.

Bernie followers don’t know a good thing when it hits them in the face, or they really love being the victim.

I'm not saying that I disagree that Bernie is the best candidate, or that going more to the left than center is a bad idea, I'm just saying that if the majority of the voters say that's not the way to go, we need to uniformly support whomever they pick.

None of the candidate left are bad, they're all good, and they're 1000x more competent than Trump.

Good luck convincing the apathetic and independent voters of “flyover country” about that...

Trump will trounce Biden with the same rhetoric and the sheeple will fall for it again I’m afraid :ohwell:

Trump’s base is more rabid, energized, invigorated, and emboldened as ever by the impeachment trial and that excitement drives turnout. It’s up to the Democrats/DNC to utilize the same excitement around Bernie by making him the nominee and not resorting to such terrible tactics.

You’re largely preaching to the choir when you tell politically activated Bernie supporters to “vote blue no matter who.” It’s the thousands, possibly millions of Sanders supporters, who don’t participate that often in online or in person political discourse and can appreciate Bernie enough to turn out to vote for him, that you should be saying that to. Energized Bernie supporters are leftist and politically engaged enough to already know how dangerous Trump is.

So you tell me why it's okay for somebody to be nominated to the platform committee in 2020 to also be a board member of an organization that just paid 700K on a TV ad that goes on air tomorrow to attack Bernie? Or what about the other platform committee member for the convention that has some of the nice opinions depicted below:

Bakari? He’s obviously not a fan of Joe Rogan’s. A lot of people aren’t.

And in 2017, he didn’t think Hillary or Bernie should run again...so?

What’s the issue with him?

So even with the Bernie surge at the ideal time, even with moderates continuing to split their vote, even with Bloomberg getting ready to make life hard for Biden, people here still expect that Bernie wont get the votes he needs so it will all be decided at the end by some superdelegates? :ladyhaha:

Just get the votes u need, people. Stop creating so much drama, Bernie.

You should tell that to Buttigieg supporters, since they’re the most likely group to vote for Trump in 2020

Why do you think Trump and the GOP have been attacking Biden and his son non-stop for the past 3 years? Can you answer that for me? Because the only logical answer is that they see him as the biggest threat to beating him. That is the ONLY reason key Democrats are pushing him. That's it. Periodt.

Yeah and all the sudden everything Fox News reports about Bernie is, the DNC rigging the primary. Bernie followers are just good at parroting Republican talking points about the DNC. Fox News knows all they have to do later is toss the word socialist around acouple of times and Trump wins another election.

Do you think superdelegates are consistent with democratic elections?

Do you think the electoral college should stay?
