Sarah Iqbal can’t stand Lady Gaga. Spotify says otherwise.

According to the streaming giant’s data, the 35-year-old Londoner has listened to “Shallow,” the hit duet the pop star sings with Bradley Cooper in the “A Star is Born” movie soundtrack, more than almost any other song this year.

The awful truth

Mrs. Iqbal shares her account with her three children, who adored the song, and her husband, whom she describes as a fan of such big belt-it-out ballads. She recalls the months after her family discovered the hit as “trying.”

“Suddenly it was everywhere I went,” she says. “In the car, on the Alexa in the lounge.”

Though she thinks more than six months have passed since anyone in the family has listened to the track, it featured prominently on her Spotify “Wrapped,” an annual personalized marketing campaign in which the streaming service recaps each subscriber’s listening habits since the beginning of the year.

“It reminded me of being physically trapped in the car,” says Mrs. Iqbal, “and having to listen to Gaga and Bradley Cooper serenade each other, with no way for me to escape.”

Shallow is just so big that they write about it like its a main pop star . I have seen more articles about Shallow or Shallow  being mentioned on TV this year than some main pop girls. wtf

Tbh. How do streaming services force anyone? They can suggest with playlists and influence your choices that way but it's still your choice whether to sit thru the song or skip it
