The French governement is trying to reform the pension system by reducing the number of special schemes. They are aiming for a more sustainable, fair and clear system. The problem is that a lot of people (especialy in the public sector) will lose some privileges and have a cut in their pension. However this kind of reform is necessary since the actual system isn't sustainable : there are only 1.7 active worker for each retired people. Economy 52,951
Here in Canada (at least in my Province) it's always schools and teachers that go on strike Almost every year there's a strike They have one of the most powerful unions in the Country tho so I'm not surprised... They already have amazing benefits like good health coverage, sick days and they make above average pay for a job where they don't work the summer or long days during the day... If only I could strike like that for my job

Actually there are PLENTY of things the french government could do without it making people go on strike, maybe just reforms that french people globally agree with. People are not just big strikes fans who do it as a hobby. Nobody love to lose payed days and receive a lower salary at the end of the month. It's just that they don't believe this reform is good and the fact the government failed to create trust with its people ( all the opposite actually) clearly make them be very careful since. However this kind of reform is necessary since the actual system isn't sustainable : there are only 1.7 active worker for each retired people. That is exactly the narrative the gouvernement is trying to shove down our throats. In reality everybody will be affected by the new system, which as usual will prejudice more the less privileged : women, people with irregulary careers, part-time and independants workers, etc. I heard a lot of "we live older, we can work older" or "this reform is necessary". NO. We live older because we work less and we better keep it that way. I don't want to spend my whole life dying at work and spend my retirement in care services. And necessary for who ? This reform was never in Macron's initial plan. The guy in charge of the reform, Jean-Paul Delevoye, is from the insurance world. This is a "private interests" reform. Macron's gouvernement is full of people from the CAC40 with conflicts of interest and lots of ideas to increase inequalities. Nobody is acting for the greater good. They all are selfish neo-liberals pigs. I'm a proud striker and I hope it continues until christmas. Yes, some people can't go to work these days, but we are fighting for the future of ALL of us. @Miaou What are you ashamed of really ? People fighting to death to catch a train because they are so afraid of losing a job and not being able to pay the bills ? It's all capitalism's fault. Put your shame on it. You didn't understand my point I'm ashamed about the mentality of french people, we clearly don't have to act this way like savage to go inside a train When they won't receive her pay slips, I hope they will also repaid everyone include ME who paid a monthly pass to have free transport and not zero transport
