MonSwiftAnton 3,746
I wish they had included Red aswell. But two albums for The 1975 in Top 20.
FrozenKookie 2,638
I love how they put BTD that high. NFR doesn't deserve that spot, but BTD will always have a special place in my heart. They acknowledged Lana's struggle when she debuted with that record 7 years ago and that made me smile. It was indeed Lana's worst reviewed album because most people didn't even bother knowing who she really is and seeing her sincerity. Now, she's cited as one of the most important songwriters of this generation. I can't avoid to be emotional when I read how she's being recognized and see how happy she is now after witnessing her in a sh*t hole back then. Anyway, I love the list as it's bit different than Pitchfork's but I stan half of the listed albums
StrawberryBlond 14,819
So, they gave it a 8/10 at the time, called it the most pretentious album by the end of the year and now it's among one of the best 100 albums of the decade? This publication shows its two-faced nature again. No wonder its readership is dropping like a stone. It seems to follow popular opinion and is all over the place. Guaranteed if Gaga hadn't gone through a recent resurgance, she wouldn't be featured at all. And out of all her albums, this was an odd one to submit, I thought NME would totally be into acoustic rock/folk of ASIB. 2 hours ago, FrozenKookie said: I love how they put BTD that high. I hope that one day in the future, music publications will do that thing where they re-review an old album that went on to become a classic. Usually, when this happens, they end up giving it a higher score, even if it's just an extra star. They usually admit that the album was ahead of its time and that's why they didn't appreciate it upon original release. Here's hoping it happens to BTD one day. Already, critics have kinda gone back on it and admitted that they didn't anticipate what an impact she was going to make on pop culture with it. And as always, critics don't like to be wrong and they like to be on the right side of history. I think when the public too Lana to their hearts, they felt like fools for giving her such lukewarm reception which is why they gave Ultraviolence a fairer chance and liked her more as time went on. People were unfairly judging her in such a sexist, classist way at the beginning with this whole "her millionaire father bought her record deal and she's sculpted by her record label" nonsense. You rarely hear this stuff said about working class male artists. I'm so pleased to see her get through that awful time and thrive. The cream always rises to the top. Miel 15,009
Is it a controversial opinion if I think Melodrama and AM should be switched? Oof. But, I guess it really fits NME. 3 points in and ready for more
