SKANK 14,288
When Gaga posed on the John Lennon memorial, baring her mid drift, wearing a tight skirt with a high slit, surrounded by a film crew during promotion for Joanne, a friend of mine (who is a big Beatles fan) thought it was disrespectful. I don’t think Gaga meant to be disrespectful. I don’t think think Pete was intentionally disrespectful either. Unless you think this photo proves his judgment is so poor that he will be spelunking at Arlington National Cemetery if elected, this photo is just being used as an opportunity to be critical of someone you dislike. Petie Estie 5,720
I think this is a terrible photo and I don't like Pete but also this memorial is not designed well at all and clearly does not accomplish any kind of reflection on the horrific events it's supposed to memorialize. This article is pretty good. https://theoutline.com/post/8272/pete-buttigieg-holocaust-memorial?zd=2&zi=ivc6g57c Call your therapist...it's Petie Estie

Here’s what the architect of the memorial site said: Peter Eisenman said he wanted visitors to the memorial to behave freely, and has said he can imagine it as a place where children play between the pillars or picnic on the fringes. He has made it clear that he wants it to be a part of every day life rather than a holy place. https://www.dw.com/en/play-time-at-the-holocaust-memorial/a-1582335 The memorial's architect, Peter Eisenman, told Der Spiegel when it opened in 2005 that he didn't expect visitors to be overly reverent. "People are going to picnic" at the monument, he told the magazine. This week, in reaction to Shapira's website, Eisenman seemed unperturbed by selfies taken at the site. He told the BBC: "People have been jumping around on these pillars forever. I think it's fine." https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2017/01/24/511244932/satirist-takes-berlin-holocaust-memorial-selfie-takers-to-task

I tend to agree with them. Like...a picnic on grave-like columns at the holocaust memorial? wtf? Why not just make a picnic site that isn't holocaust related then.
