That's the reason I wrote the post. Nobody actually knows anything about climate change, you just read what you wanna reas without going further into details. I'm NOT in any way saying climate change isn't a thing, it IS a problem but it's not the kind of problem Greta is telling us. Things are different, if people could just try and read different sources and researchs instead of focusing in what they wanna believe things would take a different turn. 

Again, try and read different researchs. You'll find out many many things and we'll be able to have a civil comversation about climate change and what we should do, instead of replying to my post with entitled replies telling me I'm ignirant because I read more than you do.

Have you read any major study on climate change released in the last few years? What she's saying is absolutely not an exaggeration. We're teetering on the verge of a total climate catastrophe and we have very little time to reverse it. If we don't implement massive, systemic changes on a global scale, we're going see mass flooding, tropical storms, fires and heat waves that could impoverish (or kill) hundreds of millions of people.

this girl is referring to how she will never live the life she dreamed because she will spend her entire future fighting for a sustainable future because no one in the older generations of governments have stopped carbon emissions.

how could you boil the character of this girl down to simply her young age after she had led hundreds of adults, children, men and women to public protests about the saving of million of animals and eco systems, including our own. i put her age in the OP to empower that fact, not mock it.

Very inspiring to see the youth take action like this. The only way to get people to care is to scare them so I’m fine with the exaggeration we’re very lazy creatures and we won’t get anything done until we light a fire under everyone’s a$$. 

This is the only earth we have guys, it isn’t fair to the beautiful flora and fauna that inhabit this planet we CAN make a change! The only problem is the corrupt leaders that are currently in charge of our governments who refuse to take action. Participate in local cleanups guys! Minimize your carbon footprint as much as you can!

Exactly. Not to mention she provides no solution. It was nothing but an emotional, entitled rant. She probably lives a much more privileged life than many other people in the world. And also, why did she mention nothing about China, one of the worlds leading polluters?

I swear to god, you have to be one of the most ignorant people on this site.  Not surprising to hear this sort of thing from a Trump supporter.

She was addressing the United Nations. China is a member of the UN. And young people are not "privileged" for being forced to inherit a world that older generations have poisoned with pollution. 

To demand that a 16 year old solve the climate crisis, and to call her "entitled" for demanding that world leaders do their jobs and protect the planet that her generation is going to have to inhabit after these people are dead is absolute insanity.

PRIVELLEDGED LIFE? So you think Greta stormed over there in a private jet? No hunny. She boated over there across the ocean in a environmentally friendly boat.

I'm sorry but that's an ad hominem argument.

It doesn't matter who says an argument, it doesn't make it any less right or wrong. Even if she lives a more privileged life, what Greta Thunberg says is right and that's what matters. 

 

you probably didn't even notice this, but many people fall victim into this type of thinking... but you should burn this into your mind, ad hominem arguments like yours aren't helpful, and don't offer any solutions aswell, actually they steer the discussion away from the real problems
