I will still listen to her albums I already own and may stream her new one but I certainly won't be purposefully or directly paying for her concerts or albums in the near future. She does have the right to voice her views, to be sure. Thank goodness for Bernie and Cardi B, though And to those saying politics can stay out of it, "The personal is political" -- read up on that second and third wave feminism ya'll. So you won't support her just for being a centrist? That's extreme. You can't listen to people with different views than you? God, I would laugh so hard if Gaga came out as a Republican, since it would force you to cancel her.

Luc 4,775
People here are saying that being centrist or middle-of-the-road means you don't have biases or an ideological perspective and that's just plain wrong. I'm decidedly left-wing, which means that I believe a few things to be true: inequality is generally bad, that everyone should get a fair chance and should be approached fairly, and that well-being is more important than money. If you disagree, or do not completely agree, or agree under some conditions and not in others, you're taking just as much of a perspective, making assumptions just as much and being just as 'biased' as I am! In fact, I think that considering yourself centrist yet 'unafilliated' to a major ideology blinds you way more than choosing for a logically consistent and coherent set of ideas. Just call yourself a social-liberal, or a modern-conservative, maybe a Blue Dog conservative, not because you need to put yourself in a box, but because there's a limited amount of beliefs that you can consistently hold. If you support equality of opportunity, that also means you hold certain beliefs about LGBT, PoC, women, poverty, education, globalisation, migration and many more issues. If you don't believe in any of the underlying principles of any ideology, it probably means you're just randomly supporting things or not, without much of an argument to support that, besides perhaps your intuition. That's okay - most centrists simply don't know enough about different ideologies, arguments and things to form a consistent and coherent set of beliefs. But then don't go acting like you're somehow 'independent' or have the ability to 'see things from both sides'. I'm left-wing and I criticize left-wing ideas all the time, including self-critique on my own main principles.

I'm left-wing and I criticize left-wing ideas all the time, including self-critique on my own main principles. Tbh that is lowkey the CORE of left-wing ideology. Constantly re-assessing wether your beliefs and ideas hold up as time passes on and society transforms. Right-wing ideology has never been about questioning things, it's about following things and accepting them as the uncontested truth, because somewhen it was "proven" to be right and hence, worthy of "conserving". That's why it's called conservatism after all. Being "centrist" or "apolitical", "seeing both sides of the story" is usually either an expression of privilige (having a high & secure social status and not having to fight for change because you don't personally need it) or an expression of disadvantage and fear (coming from a marginalized group and being afraid of the reprecussions that come from fighting against injustice). HausOfHarlow 383
I've been reading through this thread and seeing all the jokes about cancelling her and not supporting her and then the more I red, the more I realized that many of you were not joking. Who the f*ck cares????? Ya'll are reading to much into this sh*t. She is no different today than she was 5 days ago, yet many of you are now upset because she spoke something political? I mean, I think in the time of social upheaval that we are in and the fact that musicians have a platform and, as such, an obligation for advocacy/to speak up or out, yes, I would unstan Gaga if she came out as Republican. I tend to support musicians that align with my values or politics -- it makes the music or message enjoyable or meaningful, to me at least. Years ago the Dixie Chicks got a bunch of sh!t for speaking out against Bush with their platform -- the whole "Shut up and sing" thing. Thank you for your guys' thoughts. I do see where you're coming from and hope to keep insightful dialogue going on GGD -- one reason I like this cult.

Like now an Italian says "I love Italy, the flag, the language", many Americans, democrats or republicans, would associate this love to hating immigrants, nationalism, Lega supporter and so on. It's like only American can love everything about their country but still get away with the "nationalism". And my own example, I'm not saying "I love Israel" anymore because I was constantly attacked and became the bff of Netanyahu, but yes, I love this place, I was born there, I love the food, the climate, I hate the anthem but flag though, but I love many things, it doesn't make me a controversial and extreme right human being.. Yeah this is what I'm trying to say in some sense, we all get the right to love our country without it being look like we are some vicious people that kick out immigrant kids and bombing buildings every weekend.. the countries are were we were born, our families, friends, everything, we have the right to love it, we have the right to disagree with our governments too but still love them, we just don't need some annoying people tells us that this love is wrong while they are proudly loving America because it's *in an arrogant tone* America. I just have never heard Americans saying that tbh. It doesn’t make sense considering many Americans take patriotism too far.

I guess because you're American so you just don't see it, but it does exist, sometimes things like that just slipping under us when we're not outsiders (I noticed many things since I left Israel haha) So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
