AmericanxDream 2,049
I'm only conservative when it comes to certain subjects like immigration and health care, and I generally don't align with Republicans unless I feel that they're in the right about something, which is unfortunately getting rarer these days. I mean mostly leftists think conservatives are all far right which is simply not true, just like leftists aren’t all communists. The problem in the US is that social ideology and economic ideology are mixed together in the parties. The GOP is clearly anti-LGBT as a platform as long as they pander to the christian right, so fiscally conservative LGBT have to decide whether their social requirements outweigh their economic ones. I'm straight but refuse to vote GOP as long as they kiss the ass of the christian right, even though I lean more centrist/right economically. For me social progress is more important. I do find it difficult to understand how any LGBT can vote for supporting the GOP social program BS. They want to take away your rights, why would you vote for them at all? European conservative leaders (Matteo Salvini, Viktor Orban, Boris Johnson, Putin) and their supporters are hardly any different compared to Trump and his brainwashed followers. Of course, there are always some individuals who are a little bit different, but large majority of them still strictly agree on several issues (privatization, anti-abortion, US imperialist policies, religious brainwashing, pro-gun, pro-war, death penalty etc.). It's fair to say most of the western conservatives are about as far-right as possible. Most of the conservatives are also very homophobic and the fact that some of them hate gays less than the others is irrelevant because it doesn't change the core of their ideology. It shoud also be mentioned that most of the people have no idea what conservative really means. Traditionally conservative and liberal weren't two opposites but they meant exactly the same thing. These terms referred to people who are in favor of small government and they were also against corporate tyrants, but modern "conservatives" are nothing like that. Modern "conservatives" are just a group of corporate capitalists and state capitalists who are in favor of gigantic government and state-subsidized companies. hankhatesyouall 2,731
Great! Your orientation shouldn't define your lifestyle/your political views/etc. Take a look at Peter Thiel. There are plenty of other political issues that are more important (like preventing socialists from turning the US into a third-world country). Trump is pro-gay and that's all that matters. I wouldn't vote for Pence and his fat homophobic wife, but we need him on a ticket to secure the votes of evangelical Christians who are, sadly, not the biggest supporters of gay rights. Surely, I wouldn't vote for presidential candidates who openly homophobic, such as Putin and Orban. These are simply disgusting. If you actually know a thing or two about Russian politics, there are very few similarities when it comes to Trump and Putin in terms of their policies. Trump's agenda is more similar to that of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
