The new foldable iphone ( Iphone duo) have been shipped but the initial  reviews are not looking good.

First of all, apps are looking horrible (which is rare for apple) because of the "D" shape which wasn't the smartest design choice

But most surprising is how fragile they seem to be considering how new they are. Like it just dropped and there's already reports of damage?. With how much these things cost I'd expect it to be as durable as  Samsungs folds

There's also a weight distribution issue. With general consensus being the phone is too heavy.

Also the crease issue that this phone was marketed to solve has not been solved, in fact it looks much worst outdoors and display suffers

People are f.ucking brainless consumer zombie idiots for buying this sh.it

And Apple knows what they're doing. It's the same as trump saying "I can say anything to my followers and they'll applaud". They throw together any piece of sh.it, label it as 'fancy new tech' and the drones come in and give them another $50million payout. And then when things go wrong, they don't even complain because they're so loyal to their corporate gods. Apple has really cracked the capitalistic code

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

I mean I don't really blame Apple on this one. People have been pressuring the company to release a foldable for so long. Most of these complaints are reminiscent of the first generation Samsung Fold. Hiding the crease, cracked screens, broken hinges, etc. This is the result of commodifying a luxury product. Apple obviously tested their device to be handled by someone who knows they're spending $2,000 on new technology and there will be some care in it. People will throw around their phones or drop them regularly and then are surprised it's broken. And have no qualms in posting about it online to force the company into giving them another unit for free, with the potential clout chasing as a driving force.

And if anything, everyone should have been prepared after the iPhone X. New components and layout meant a lot of issues. Most people that are actual enthusiasts either 1) are aware of potential issues and opt to buy it anyways or 2) skip the first/second generation because it's the first time the product comes out of a singular R&D environment and into the hands of millions. Apple has made a lot of missteps and likes to pretend it's **** doesn't stink just like any other company. But it at least learns from it's mistakes and fixes them in following generations.

A bit more on topic w OP: I can bet you it's the developers not delivering optimized software and also that in a lot of these cases they are running the Siri AI beta. Which will take up to 2 weeks to index data. That can cause a more sluggish phone and also deplete battery life. The Magsafe issue is almost inexcusable but they're also engineering around a million other things. It wouldn't surprise me if they released a larger version of the Magsafe or some other revision.

My biggest issue is with the screen and how they tried to walk around the crease issue with a poor fix and pretended like it was solved during the launch event.

Also this phone was launched almost a month before they begun shipping. wasn't that enough time to figure out some of these issues with app optimisation?. Its a foldable phone almost a decade later in a sea of other foldable phones with passport shape. No one should eat this level of poor user experience when they are paying 2k$ at this point in the game just because its apple.

Yess... it's the consumers fault for expecting a durable product

All these posts are just overblown dramatics which at most only affecting less than 10% costumers of this phone. Though as tech enthusiast myself, I have to say, it is just a known and common risk for people who consider themselves early adopters of first gen of gadgets. They willingly accepted that risk such as reliability issues, high cost, bugs, product failure, obsolescence, among others. And this is not limited to Apple devices. The problem is some regular costumers are just fomo and didn't understand this devices isn't meant for them yet.  At very least though, the app developers are more supportive to iPhone Duo by optimizing it for that device on day one of its release, something that the same app developers never do in almost 8 years of android folding phones existing.
