Ayesha Erotica 2,004
It may seem strange but I think the Falklands should return to France and in exchange another French colony, any of the "départments", which actually has an indigenous population, should be granted independence instead. I don’t have strong feelings about this. The Falklands were uninhabited before they were first discovered by the French, which is very very very very very different than the situation in the Middle East that traces human population millenia back. They are not the indigenous land of South American peoples like South American lands usually are. Furthermore, modern Argentina itself is a colonial descendant of Spain (along with migration from Italy), and indigenous peoples do not hold power in Argentina. The Argentines only want the islands to get maritime resources, as the islands possess a large Exclusive Economic Zone. This is also why UK wants to keep them. But at the end of the day, they are islands located at some distance from Argentina; furthermore, Argentina is a land power, while the UK is an island nation. It is not unreasonable for them to remain with the UK. I support the return of Diego Garcia (illegally occupied by UK) to Mauritius but I am neutral towards the Falkland Islands. Argentine will never get them back any way because UK is a nuclear power and allied with the US, it only serves to fuel nationalist feeling in Argentine. to all the gays who say I’m History…I’M PROPHECY. When Javier Milei swept into power in December 2023, his "chainsaw" rhetoric was a spectacle. He promised to cut down a corrupt political class, but for millions of ordinary Argentines, his economic experiment has felt like a direct assault on their daily survival. In less than a year, the initial thrill of his radical promises evaporated. What replaced it is a grim reality of skyrocketing costs, empty tables, and a growing wave of public disapproval that is threatening to swallow his presidency. Living in Argentina today means watching your paycheck disappear before your eyes. By devaluing the currency, freezing wages, and cutting vital subsidies for electricity, gas, and buses overnight, Milei's government triggered a severe crisis. The human cost on the ground is staggering: For the elderly and the vulnerable, Milei's vision of an "anarcho-capitalist" utopia is a nightmare. His decision to veto modest pension increases and cut funding for life-saving cancer drugs left retirees facing an impossible choice: buy food or buy medicine. The cruelty of these measures shattered the illusion that only "the caste" would suffer. Instead, the heaviest burden of the chainsaw fell squarely on the shoulders of the poor and the working class. Milei won the election by capturing the rage of a desperate nation, but that same anger is now turning against him. His public disapproval ratings have steadily climbed into a dominant majority, hovering between 56% and 64%. The most painful blow to his government has come from his own former voters. In lower-income neighborhoods, disapproval is pushing 70%. People are realizing that the radical libertarian dream they were sold didn't fix the system, it simply broke their lives. 1
Bronco 29,220
I mean they did last time lol This is a stupid remark by him to distract from the west bank because Milei has already ruled out military intervention on the Falklands (because the Argentinian military famously never rebuilt after the original Falklands conflict because of the collapse of Peron successor government). I will say, I think this is a very difficult situation. There's no evidence that Mauritius would even allow the return of the Chagossians to the islands (in fact the current agreement involves the military base being maintained and the islanders still being denied access to Diego Garcia proper). The best outcome, in my view, would be the UK allowing the return of the islanders first, then providing them with the ability to choose their own future. Many Chagossians, if they were allowed to return to the islands, might not even necessarily vote to join Mauritius. The negotiations between the UK and Mauritius haven't even involved any Chagossian organisations or voices. True, there would be a military base for another 99 years, and it would not really be a resident island. Not an ideal deal for Mauritius. It's like waiting 99 years for M to get it back. Also there is a risk that UK/US will often use the base (like US does now during Iran war) and that potential counterattacks might hit the island (like during a Taiwan war). I think there cannot be a military base and ordinary resident population at the same time. If they had a chance to vote, they would most likely vote for autonomy within the UK because they would receive higher social welfare payments and higher benefits from the UK than from poor Mauritius (same reason why départments voluntarily stay within France). I can understand Mauritius why they don't welcome this option. to all the gays who say I’m History…I’M PROPHECY.

Like the UK did with Cyprus (but technically for eternity and not limited to 99 years in this case), I think it was a bad deal for Cyprus because the UK is using this overseas base to attack or assist other countries (like it is used as a hub for the Iran war indirectly) and outsources the risks to Cyprus instead to the British main islands. So UK/US carry out attacks from British bases on Cyprus and in future another country might counterattack on Cyprus. Also the deal is a very bad deal because it did offer no security guarantees to Cyprus. When Turkey invaded Cyprus, UK was watching with popcorn and did not help. Well, the UK was/is guarantor power of Cyprus independence and there were sec. guar. but it did not help it, so a meaningless treaty. Interesting that UK sent weapons to Ukraine to help it but no weapons to Cyprus to help it. I think Putin is right when he says the West has an anti-Russia stance. Because it only helps countries when it is against Russia/Communism, otherwise it is indifferent. to all the gays who say I’m History…I’M PROPHECY. Exactly, two desperate failures, I mean they can try again but the result for Argentina would be even more catastrophic, we have built up the defences of the islands significantly. Love to see them try. Edited yesterday at 12:00 AM by DopeEnigma
