Before she said “this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time” she darted her eyes to the ground then back up. It sounds like she’s just saying it to make it sound deeper than what it is.

it seems like she wants to do this but she also seemed like that during fame perfume so we will see

Maybe she’s just thinking about ... what ... to say..?

Usually when you’ve been wanting to do something like this you don’t have to think about a phrase such as “I’ve been wanting to do this for forever.”

Her body language is off for me.

She’s trying to remain professional and eloquent. I think you’re reading farrrr too into it

Why do I have a feeling a bunch of LM's have been giving the Navy crap about Rihanna's beauty ventures and now they are getting return karma like with Vegas lol.

Some of y’all call yourself fans, but 90% of the time only say negative things about gaga...doesn’t add up

I’m glad I’m not part of that kind. I’ve been supportive of her for other ventures most fans weren’t. I was here for her tribute era. I was here for her jazz era. I loved Joanne and even travel to another continent to see the Joanne World Tour. I simply don’t like this more commercial driven route she’s taking. She can sell chicken for all I care (for the record, she already did that) but at least be consistent and true to what you’re presenting and don’t cover it up with a self empowering message that (up to this point, I’ll give her the benefit of doubt) feels more like an excuse rather than the actual reason you’re doing this.

Either way, I love the girl. I guess I’ll take this beauty era with a little bit of humor, let her be and just move on onto her next music project.

All those who say it sounds fake and forced...:saladga:

You know what was really fake and forced? The Fame fragrance promo

Actually I love every single second of this. She created her own “FAME” persona, weird accent and all. She gave us theater. She gave us Gaga.

Makeup is completely not my cup of tea so I'm not excited about this at all. I'm interested in the music in promo clip, sounds promising. But I just can't look at this cringefest she's making. Sure, she wanted to create makeup that's bold or something, that's great. But why does she has to give it this sounding very fake aura, with "battle for your life", "for me it's not about makeup, it's about changing the world" blah blah. It sounds like she tries to explain herself why she is doing it, and that hints at the fact that she knows its not genuine. Its not even about her believes with this brand - it's about how it's dressed in words wrongly. Instead of making it the new world saviour thing, let it be what it is - just makeup, for creative people, you wanted to make for money. That's all. Wish her luck ale great sells, and waiting for new music that is long overdue at this point for an artist that wants to be relevant.

IA. This is getting over the top, she sounds so superficial, coming with a Makeup/Beauty brand, mixing it with BTW, “be yourself” after all her Epione treatments and changes, she even use beautiful people for the campaign, but I think this is how beauty business work. :vegas:

Head Empty

Maybe... I don't know, maybe but I can't deny that my head honestly spins when I read that :air: If that's true in her case then I'm happy for her. But a little heads up to her fans would be nice so we can all sort of follow where her head is these days, where her motivations lie.

Well, because it's not exactly admirable to move from a "I'm such an authentic artist I would rather not buy a cliché home in ****ing Malibu and spend it on creating the most amazing show yet" philosophy to a "lemme buy that mansion and make my shows simpler and simpler" one :emma:

There's nothing wrong with change, but in Gaga's case I'm afraid a lot of her changes have been a move away from values and philosophies that were actually quite unique, inspiring and, well... laudable and respectable in the pop industry. It's a hard pill to swallow for fans who fell in love with those philosophies to see them evaporating slowly. Obviously change would be a lot easier if she started with make-up and fashion lines and then after a few years said "I'm not doing that **** anymore, time to focus on my art" but with Gaga it seems to happen in a reverse mode :rip: That's a little more hard to adapt as a fan who's just here to enjoy that art (like me).

Well besides her artistic evolution she also changed in terms of what her life had become.

When she made those initial statements she was a young underdog with big dreams and nothing to lose. The only thing she cared about and had to care about from 2009-2013 was her career. Everything else was on hold.

Only when her musical career started to stagnate (late BTW - ARTPOP), other things start catching up: her mental health, physical health, sobriety, (professional) trauma, romantic aspirations, family.

I feel like Gaga is trying to make responsible choices for herself right now. Finding places to settle down. Creating stable foundations, ventures and options for the future. As well as exploring dreams that had been on the back burner because of music.

Where all her money used to be on her music (figuratively as well as literally), she's now prioritizing a stable base as a complete person, and not just as an artist.

:applause:

Very well put, I do think this is the most sensible interpretation. It's easy for me, a fan, to prioritize her art but yeah, that must look completely different for her as a person. Doesn't exactly explain why she'd choose a make-up line out of all things but anyway, you definitely made me reconsider my blabbering on about how she was in the past, good job :oprah:

Thanks

I think the reason she chose a makeup line is because makeup, as a creative expresser, has always been key to her ever-evolving identity. Right at the beginning of her career, it was makeup that allowed her to visually become who she wanted to be (Lady Gaga) - and even now, it is makeup that enables her to communicate different sides of her personality and artistry.

From TF to TFM, from BTW to AP, and C2C to Joanne... make-up accompanied and communicated each of the transformations that came attached to each era. Even with Joanne, it was makeup that really established and first introduced the more understated tone of the cycle.

I think, aside from music and the arts, makeup *or* fashion are the most obvious and authentic avenues for her to explore.

That's very true and logical. But what I was really asking is not: why this commercial product and not another commercial product, and more: why not new music or art instead of a commercial product? :oprah: When you accept that she's releasing something to make money, make-up does sound super logical and fitting but only when we accept her releasing something like this at all. When you think of all the things she could do right now by her own choice, releasing a make-up line seems a bit more odd.

Except, of course, as a business move, and that's of course fine.

REALITY

Jajajaja

Then Minaj should have one, Empire of the sun should have one, Gwen Stefani should have one, Ariana should have one, Cher should have one, David Bowie should have one, KISS should have one, Marylin Manson should have one, etc.

First you say “every single artist”, then you only start naming the ones who fit my description :ladyhaha:

Sure, if they all wanted to have their own make-up lines, they could. If Cher came out with a line, I’d be perfectly fine with it, because it fits what she’s been doing for decades. If Bowie was still alive and for some reason wanted to get into the beauty industry, then more power to him. His looks are iconic and classic. Why not capitalize on that?
