What I’m trying to say is that it’s more nuanced and neither stance on the polls are entirely correct. 

 

Also, there is a difference between sampling an appropriate sample size based on historical voting trends and ignoring an entire age gap because of a stereotype that young people cannot be relied upon to vote. Also, Bernie is a special case or exception to the rule because a large chunk of his support does come from the younger demographics, which means that must also be a factor pollsters need to consider when determining the sample mix. So for an example, the under 30 demo should make up about 18-20% based on the 2016 election. If a poll doesn’t sample that demographic at all, then you’re going to over sample another demographic. Let’s say they over sample the +65 demographic. Let’s say the +65 was 18%. Well if you over sample the +65 group and make up say 36% of the respondents, it’s going to give you bad figures. Not only would it understate Bernie’s support but it would likely overstate Biden’s support. Therefore the polls will be off by a significant margin.

The RealClearPolitics polling average shows Biden with a 9.3-percentage-point lead over Sanders. 

In a head-to-head matchup with President Donald Trump, Biden still performed the best in the Emerson poll, leading the incumbent 53% to 47%. Sanders edged out Trump 51% to 48%.

Looks like we should all be behind Biden, then.

Fun fact. The morning consult polls have yet to release the breakdown by age so we can’t determine If the poll is valid or not. 

 

Also, if the arguments against Bernie (too male, white & old) also have merit then the question would remain why are the polls showing the majority of people are behind either Bernie or Biden? ESP since the party is “so diverse, young, and female.” You can say “name ID” but the name recognition of other candidates are rising quickly but it’s not really changing the race at all based on the morning consult data. 

 

Bonus: the morning consult polls have a massive polling sample too. Think it’s around 12K people which is HUGE for polling. So if they’re polling samples are good, then it would in theory be really accurate. BUT if we accept this as accurate then we have to dismiss the CNN talking points of “too old, white and male.”

Right now, it’s mostly name recognition with the others gaining slowly from media attention and social media. 

We have a LONG way to go. Democrats want to fall in love. Anything could happen.

Democrats would rather see have Trump over any progressive candidate. Bernie, Tulsi Gabbard, and Jill Stein can all join to start a third party easily. Democrats also support Trump wars and persecution of journalists. The democratic party is a right wing party, they are moderate right wingers.

This was my theory of what was going to happen but in a slightly different way.

See, I thought the GOP would split but now I thinkit's the Dem. party that will.

To the left, the green party will pick up a lot of young liberals and people like Bernie. The Dems will be the centrist party (they lean left but center in other countries is liberal here). The GOP will bleed off a lot of people who'll join the democrats and they'll be left with a husk of a conservative force whose ideals die more and more as more people reach voting age.

Although im not fully a progressive, im more Libertarian, its a fact that progressive ideas are the most popular statistically even with right wingers. Right wingers and Libertarians are willing to support Bernie, Yang, and Tulsi! But people like Trump and Hilary the most hated two candidates in history are forced on people to choose yet they call this country a democracy? If this country was a democracy, progressives like Sanders would win.

What’s really sad to me is all of the fuss over Bernie not being a democrat. Bernie’s effort to run as a democrat is to bring in new people to the party & reform the party into a more progressive party instead of the corporatist party it is today. && yet he always gets bashed for “not being like the rest.” The duality shouldn’t have to be choosing between big donors and gay rights and big donors and religious bigotry.

His best choice is Tulsi in that Bernie can dominate the conversation in terms of economics but sometimes takes a few missteps in terms of foreign policy. Tulsi would be great to assist and also bring Bernie a little to the left on foreign policy. Tulsi could bring an appeal to the anti-war crowd && Bernies populist message will appeal to the union/rust belt crowd. I’d say Bernie wins popular vote by about 4%, flips Iowa, Michigan, Pennsylvania & Wisconsin but loses NC, Florida. But that’s just speculation on my part.

Thank god Bernie isn’t like the rest! If he was, he wouldn’t have been able to single handedly change the political landscape of this country with his progressive policies. If more Democrats were actually to the left and not centrist corporate hacks they could have won more elections and we’d be in control of the House and Senate right now! The anti Bernie hate is unfounded, ignorant and honestly very sad since he is one of the only politicians on either side of the aisle that give a damn about working people.
