What’s the real reason Def Jam dropped Gaga?

Yes this

Wasn't Starstruck her song about them and that's why it's really autotuned?

Paper Gangsta is the song.

Gaga wasn't a safe pop girl. And the label wouldn't bet on her being successful and bring money for them.

Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.

i always thought she was lucky that they dropped her and didn't keep her stuck in a contract that wouldn't allow her to release her music if she wanted to. it happened to a lot of artists.

Seeka

The dude heard Beautiful Dirty Rich (The first song she made for the fame and thus the song she built it's entire concept around) and didn't like what he heard.

Was this already revealed?

I’m watching a documentary and I’ve always wondered how they had signed her and  eventually went ‘oh wait you ain’t fit for our company’

There was no dramatic, hidden "real" reason—also, sis lol aren't you the one who always looks for drama?

Gaga got signed by L.A. Reid and then people who worked under him, who were overseeing her demos, tried to steer her in a direction she didn't like. He heard the finished demos, didn't care for them (and said he deeply regrets it, but he was impatient for some reason that day), and dropped her. Someone posted the Youtube clip where he explains it, and Gaga once addressed it too outside of the song about it. It's actually a pretty typical reason for singers to get dropped.

It's happened to lots of other artist, tbh, so it's not unusual—Katy Perry, for example, along with Bruno Mars, Destiny's Child, etc. I believe St. Vincent was dropped, too, from her first label.

And it worked out for the best for Gaga—after he dropped her she got signed up by Sony's songwriting division and then Akon "discovered" her and introduced her to Vince  Herbert (who was running Interscope and is Tamar Braxton's ex-husband). Akon worked closely with her as did Vince, instead of pawning her off on other lower-level people which is typical with some labels (and what happened at Def Jam), and magic happened.

Yeah, it's kind of funny how many big people got dropped and lucked out of draconian contracts and went on to better things. The same exact thing happened to Bruno Mars.

I remember years ago Akon gave an interview and he mentioned that Gaga wasn't the only one he signed up for his imprint for Interscope who had been dropped by another label—it was a big artist, too.
