Gov Hooka 8,008
from my experience traveling, it's really disgusting the amount of homophobia from that country and many of its citizens. i did not feel safe at certain points during my time there, and I've encountered really gross polish travelers outside of the country as well. That being said, hopefully the LGBT polish community stays strong

It's moved forward and most young people are tolerant towards gay people. If anything it's the adoption by gay couples that's still backwards but when it comes to tolerance towards gay people then I'd say Poland is forward. That specific demo which - let's face it - are the future of the country is the one who are the most important one for the future. Warsaw was a really cool city and must have been so beautiful before ww2, especially considering how nice Krakow is, which was relatively untouched. No one is proclaiming the end of civilization, you're misframing their argument that way. All they said was that a backwards trend seems to be on the rise in the past decade across the world. They aren't saying it will all burn down and no one will have rights. It's undeniable, however, that hatred and right wing traditionalist rhetoric have been on the rise. You're trying to paint a picture of progress that has obstacles but is still going up. That's a questionable claim. And massacres (in your example) aren't something to just shrug at ("of course there will be... massacres"). What a privileged thing to say. You have a point but that is a very hurtful assumption you're making. I live in the Middle East where massacre are happening every day, not just all around me in countries like Palestine, Iraq and Syria, but to people like me. I live in a country where being gay is punishable by prison, where i can't look at my boyfriend a certain way because i'm surrounded by hostile people would love nothing more than to report me to the infamous police dept. i live next to, known for imprisoning, probing and torturing gay people. For you to come and tell me I'm privileged and don't know what struggle is when all I'm trying to do is desperately believe the world is turning into a better place is disheartening. chaeri pls

The others can rot in hell tbh I have really different assumption than that. Sorry There are people that are more open minded but even more or at least half of that are really "conservative". There is really lots of social pathology simply everywhere and it shows. I cannot go out once to not see things like this. People that are aggressive. I was attacked physically more than 4 times, even more verbally. For being gay, for being "different". Maybe there is some kind of chsnge, but that change is so extremely small to me that I consider it being stable and not moving forward at all. Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
