As I'm writing this I'm watching ASIB for the gazillionth time and something came to my mind: Why is Shallow the signature song? Yes, it's a pretty good song and really powerful. But technically it was ARUTW what made Ally's breakthrough and not Shallow so it makes ARUTW waaaayyyy more important imho. Plus, it's performed by the two title characters, and its creation symbolizes the bond they have (Ally composing it and Jackson arranging a live version). ARUTW on the other hand...has neither of those things it's a great song, but from a story point of view, it only symbolizes a breakthrough, but it leaves behind the connection and affection Jackson and Ally have. It's about love ofc, but Shallow is more meaningful in that regard. ARUTW it's about feelings, while Shallow is about the future promises. Former First Lady of the United States.
