PinkJelly 1,769
After the ‘Leaving Neverland’ documentary, given the fact she’s always publically admired MJ as an artist (even buying his clothes). We saw her opinion on R.Kelly change dramatically, so... As the title says, do you think Gaga’s opinion of MJ will change, or has it already changed? Thoughts? sipthistea 21,099
As a fan, she may be conflicted about the issue. And even more as a sexual abuse survivor. Who knows? Only the accusers and MJ himself know the actual truth.
Reginald 13,841
I don't think many opinions changed as a result of the MJ documentary -- this is something that's been under public scrutiny for nearly 30 years, and MJ has been dead for 10. Many people formed opinions about this a long time ago. It seems to come up at least once a decade. The R Kelly documentary, however, exposed lots of new information that we didn't know about
AnglerfishbraBENUS 5,734
Well we’ll probably never hear Sire anyway but she will prob still wear his clothes so
Didymus 34,380
I do. I mean, she worked with R. Kelly and said she loved collaborating with him. This is someone she knows and she had no problem completely turning her back on him and even removing all evidence of them working together. Granted, this is one of her idols but I think, if she watches it at least, she'll see herself in their testimonies and won't be able to get their stories out of her minds. She might not publicly comment on it but I do think she will struggle with it.
MrDarkGa 311
I think she will be understandably conflicted as many of us are. But she has the added pressure of publically making a stance on it or adressing it to a degree, and whichever side she takes, she'll be met with controversy. BBhomemaker 5,611
Im not on her mind but she probably dont torture her mind about those accusations as some of yall do, its an old accusation, like she said they killed him once and 10years later they still wants wants to kill him again. It's not because R kelly story happened that she gonna associated both
hpmcmill 2,009
I hope so.
LaLa 19,663
I think so. In that Kesha deposition, the as$hole lawyer asked her something like “well what if your father was accused of rape, would you automatically believe the accuser then?” and Gaga said something like “how would I know what my father did?” So I do think she at least really does aspire to believing all survivors. Of course that’s easier said than done sometimes, like in the MJ case for her probably. I’m sure it’s a conflict for her, but I do think she will question her own assumptions. She’s done a lot of learning about sexual assault in the last few years. I’d be surprised if she ever spoke about it publicly though. No matter what she privately believes, even if she does still think he’s innocent, I don’t think she’d come right out and call any of the accusers liars. weed 74,154
Thinking about how much money and effort she spent on his memorabilia I think... idk it's really down to herself, if she hadn't bought his stuff and didn't have a connection to MJ I'd say that she would be against him
geusst1235 5,398
Probably not,she supported him before even though similar allegations have been brought up in the past. She shouldn't change her mind on a biased documentary (That gives no evidence btw) that shows one side, and gives the point of view from two accusers who don't know even how to keep a consistent story. Also the fact that they actually just recently edited out pieces of the documentary that were inconsistent in newer airings.....I'm not even ****ing kidding. Fame IV 4,426
North American culture has to learn to separate the personal life of the artist and the art itself. The work of art is a product of fiction and an autonomous entity. That's basic theory of art for all the people that are now boycotting Jackson's work because of a question that refers to...personal life (this is more easy to understand regarding writers, because when you read a book you don't care, at the most of the times, about the person who wrote it; pop culture creats a sick dependency/idolization on the figure of the artist, which difficultates the perspective of the artistic object as an autonomous entity) Regarding the accusation, Jackson isn't here anymore to defend himself. He had massive media coverage about this issue for many years. TV networks aren't concerned with the victims potential trauma or mental health but they use this to make big money + publicity stunt. Gaga shouldn't change her mind. Everyone who likes his work should keep listening to it. A Star is Born ⭐
PinkJelly 1,769
Agree with most of what’s been shared, I believe you can and should be able to continue to enjoy the ‘art’ created. Other forms of art, writing is a good example, aren’t held to the same account socially for some reason. Roald Dahl was accused of anti-Semitism for years and Dr Seuss a self-confessed racist but their work is still widely acclaimed and consumed. I admit it would be a strange move for Gaga to put her 2 cents in on this one amidst the current coverage though.
Lilbit 1,596
I just finished watching the first part of the series, and a common theme is the gifting of his clothes. He gave a lot of his clothes to these boys, and they continue to specify that these items were from iconic videos, and performances. If she waits for people to bring it up, it’d be a bad look for her....again. Personally I would get rid of the clothing. Keeping memorabilia of someone accused of doing such horrific things isn’t something I’d want people to think of me. At the same time, she’s already gone through this with R Kelly, and she seemed to she’s come on top of it, so I just don’t know. If she made a public statement and sold/gave away the clothing I think she’d be fine. It goes further than pleasing the public. It’s about her conscience, and ethics.
