Chickens in Malibu 7,873
What's the inspiration of this song? Does anyone know? Half of it is spanish and at the end it says "don't try to catch me, I'm living on the edge of the law"... Is it about undocumented immigrants or same-sex marriage? Didymus 34,380
It's dedicated to minority groups across America but it zooms in on gay marriage and immigration, yes. Its specific inspirations were Prop 8 which was hotly debated at the time since it was ruled unconstitutional in 2010, and the then controversial Arizona immigration laws. The Mexican sounds in it serve two purposes: they are thematically relevant for the Arizona/Mexico inspiration, but they are also Garibay's **** you to the industry for being pushed by labels to remove the "ethnic" Mexican sounds in his productions, by his own admission. Hyoha 1,613
"I don't speak your Jesus Cristo" also refers to homophobic/xenophobic Christian conservatives who don't practice what they preach.

AJRocketMan 2,684
It’s about a lesbian relationship and gay marriage. Only the very end is about immigration (“Don’t you try to catch me!”).
