Anti-Zionists believe that Israel needs to be destroyed. I personally think considering all criticism as anti semitism is wrong. But there are several cases where it is antisemitism. According to the article, and what you edit out of my original post, simple criticism is often called anti-Zionism in France. I think it's a bit different from what you think when it comes to France at the moment.. the association of French Jews to Israel and the attacks against them is what led to this strange law (which I don't support!).. and it's pretty disturbing especially when most of the French Jews are against the Israeli government actions.. they don't deserve the recent attacks.. 100k Jews left France in the last 5 years to other countries! Here's why being anti-zionist is being anti-semitic : There's a confusion around the definition of anti-zionism : being anti-zionist is denying the need and the existence of a Jewish state. As creating a Jewish state is the only way to prevent any horrible anti-semitic event from happening in the future, people who are against it are against jews. Now, this is not limiting free-speech. You can keep criticising the Israeli government while understanding the need for jews to have their home after 3000 years of persecution. Anti-zionism is wanting to destroy Israel and its people, it's therefore anti-semitism. Period. I think this law is important because anti-semitics can hide behind calling themselves anti-zionist. Which is the same as they want the destruction of Israel and its people. Nathalie Portman is an Israeli actress, she's zionist, but she is an activist against the government in place in Israel. People need to know what being anti-zionist really means to understand the horror of it. I don't blame you though because there's a real blur on the topic, caused by the anti-semitics' manipulation to get people saying they're anti-zionist as well while they're "only" not in favour of the government in place, not the people.
