The electoral college makes perfect sense. Do I think it needs to be slightly reworked..yes! But imagine if you had a test and a homework. Say you got a 100% on the test and a 0% on the homework. The electoral college is the "weighting system". Without the electoral you would have a 50%, with it you would probably have a 90% or something. The electoral colleges gives unheard people a chance to make a difference. Also why should states that welcome more illegal immigrants get more power in an election.

It is archaic. The nation’s population has shifted to mostly cities.

By supporting or voting a party u embrace their views even if it's 60-80%. If republicans say they hate ppl of colour and gays what should i think of you. U may not hate me personally but u can't deny the fact that u helped them get in power and now they are trying to strip me of my rights. What do i make of that? Remember the good ppl who did nothing when their jewish neighbours were being thaken by nazis

Not all republicans are like this, like maybe 4% out of the 100.

And most cities are liberal... The population of 3 cities shouldn't be able to overpower and sway an entire election

It isn’t 3 cities. It’s most cities across the nation.

A few thousand rural folk shouldn’t take our country hostage and away from what the majority of the voters want.

Understable.

The reasons I support him is: I think he has been one of the only few presidents who have fulfilled most of their campaign promises. I think most of the time he speaks from what he is thinking and feeling at the time; I can understand if most think that is irrational for a president to be but I'd much prefer that than have a scripted performance put on. I think he has fought hard for American workers and the economy. He is standing up to countries that have taken advantage of us for years and putting them in their place. He is fighting for lower drug prices, he is fighting for a cure for HIV/AIDS, fighting for lower taxes. And I completely agree with his immigration policies (which many Democrats had run on in the past). There are many past democrats who have literally said close to the same thing regarding securing the border, but somehow Trump is labeled as a racist. I don't necessarily believe a concrete wall is needed, but I was hoping for some technologically advanced "wall". There is obviously a border problem (idk if I would say crisis, but I don't live right at the border so idk) and something has to be done. Reform will take many years to be approved so I'm fine with a wall and security for now. And his progress on the economy, yes some argue that the economic cycle is cyclical (which it is) but his numbers are extremely well so I think him and the cyclicality of the economy took a part in that. This is definitely a controversial topic on here so I welcome to be challenged, but I don't think transitioning transgenders should be allowed into the military. They are a liability at that point. If you have transitioned and its been awhile since your surgeries and medication I think that is perfectly fine. But having someone who is taking medication and having surgeries done while in the military is not a good idea. The military is not a **** around job. It's literally peoples' lives on the line. It's like if someone just got a heart transplant you would not put them immediately back onto the field. They become a liability.

I hope that fully answers your curiosity. I probably got a little sidetracked lol but feel free to ask more if you want.

See me personally... I don't find a wall in itself as "immoral" as some Liberals describe it as... There's nothing wrong with a Nation trying to reduce illegal immigration and beefing up security

I'm against it tho because the number of illegal immigrants that go from Mexico to the US doesn't justify the amount of money it takes to build and maintain the wall. Especially if u take into account that many will find other ways to stay illegally (like fly in on vacation and then just not show up to go back is a common way to do it)

I also have a lot of problems with Trump when it comes to his economic policies...

His tax cuts for Corporations for example are good but America can't afford them. He's raising the deficit too much. Under Trumps new budget the deficit is now 5% of GDP virtually unheard of during supposed good economic times he's gonna bankrupt America like this

His tarrifs make no sense like on steel for instance. He's trying to help the steel industry with only a few hundred thousand workers but then raises the costs of production and damages competitiveness to manufacturers that use the steel and employ several times more workers than steel production itself. Almost every economist agrees the steel tarrifs are horrible for the economy

He's also highly hypocritical. Before he was elected he criticized high deficits and he criticised the Federal reserve for keeping rates too low and inflating bubbles. Now that he's president he increases spending and lower taxes for short term gains under his presidency and he's criticizing the fed for raising rates (the exact opposite he did before). It almost looks like he's trying to set the Fed to take the blame if the economy falters

He's also very dishonest when it comes to numbers and statistics and even more misleading than most politicians are

So I don't think he's running the economy well at all (which is the one sole reason I sometimes support Republicans over Democrats in the first place)

I think it’s very important to separate political association and leaders of political parties. Republicans don’t all associate or like Trump or even stand by “popular” social ideas of its parties. I’ve met gay Republicans. I’ve met female Republicans. I’ve met black Republicans. I have Hispanic Republican family members. To solely see Republicans as homophobic, sexist, and racist straight non-Hispanic white men is wrong. Hell, Republicans were pushing for a female VP back in 2008. There was a black republican running for 2016 president. To completely disregard these people in the Republican platform is to deny the idea that change is happening and that the Republican Party is actually progressing socially. I’ll be interested in what ways anti-republicans will try putting quotas on Republican in 10-20 years when more minority republicans are in the spotlight.

Sorry @shoful but in this I have to agree with @Morphine Prince

Rural areas have fewer people and so their opinions should also proportionally weigh less not come up with a system to disproportionately give an individual in a town more weight factor than someone in a city just because he's in a rural area

I do get ur point of view tho that towns opinions get shut out by metropolis

But I also think each individuals opinion should count equally regardless of where they live.

The electoral college disproportionately gives some regions more voting power than others which I don't think makes sense

Tho to be fair almost every country is like that. Here in Canada we don't use the popular vote either

I agree with u 100%

This goes back to my earlier point that there's a lot of factors and beliefs involved in a party

LGBT rights to put it simply is not the sole thing everyone is thinking of when deciding which party has more in line with their beliefs

Many Republicans may prefer Democrats more warm nature towards gays for instance but then disagree with 80% of the rest so they still identify as Republicans

Politics is a lot more complex than just gay issues
