I was raised on the 60's and 70's cuz my mom was a music person ...and it was the 80s so that was happening. Very good stuff when you can find it. Oh so ur older... My dad said he doesn't remember an artist ever being as huge during their peaks as Gaga was 2009-2011 Is that true?

Ugh that's so sad. Let's not think that way. Hahaha Yeah... Very few cultural highlights are remembered by anyone hundreds of years later I mean before the 1900s what do we know? A few big composers like Beethoven and Bach and that's about it... And even names like that, most people have heard those names but few people know much of their work Fur Elise is honestly probably the very oldest musical composition that is still Extremely well known by almost everyone At least any artist that recorded videos or performances that got uploaded to the Internet should be there forever (we are at an age where information is now well kept and won't be easily lost) That doesn't mean anyone in 200 years will look at it When I said Madonna will be remembered I meant more like when she passes away any young generation that overlapped being alive with older people who knew of her would get exposure to her work... Kind of how like Elvis Presley died before my generation was born but we know of him because we co-exist with a generation that did witness him and his rememberence got passed down I suspect that 50 years after Madonna dies she will still be remembered as a legend in history But in 200 years? Maybe not so much

It's not even always easy to find either. This is really HER album without the big production, had her own writing. No tour, no video, that I recall. Not commercial. Low key. I think it was only released online. It does have some good tracks on it tho. I recently bought it again because I had lost mine. Yay for ebay. Haha Yet u still don't want me. Not.com.mercial was a radical inspiration in my life. I remember buying the Very Best of Cher (2003) and becoming obsessed with "Born with the hunger". I tried to find the album in her catalogue but there was no where to be found. Then I heard almost by accident "Sisters of Mercy" and realized it was from this album. I was in shock. It was the first time I heard a singer trying to oppose to the stereotypical image of church in my youthful mind. Pretty much I realized that if there was my idol who believed that, I was not wrong about it either. And then I broke up with my first bf and "Still" + "With or without you" came... I still drink my tears to this day with those two. Seriously if this album had the chance to see a proper release and promo, many people would realize Cher to the core. She is not just the autotune gay fandom lady. She is everything that stands between emotions and pride and this album definitely proves that. Sorry for rumbling. I just remembered the beautiful & bitter yester years. Cher is definitely every icon combined through the decades. I Wantth your Love...I Wantth your Love. Hence how she managed to get the title "Queen of comebacks" Everytime her career would start fading and people think maybe she was finally over... "BAM I'm back b*tches" I remember thinking dam it Cher is fading maybe she's gone for good now... Then BAM Burlesque starts getting advertised all over and she goes on tv doing all these interviews Even when Chaz had his sex transformation and went on tv and seen as an inspiration the show hosts always had to bring up his mother and make the interview partially about her. Ellen DeGeneres had to take the opportunity to talk to Cher on the phone when she had Chaz... Even when she wasn't present she was inquired about U can't get rid of her. She's like Pepe Le pieu the skunk. You think uve escaped him, turn around and he's right there Cher is that celebrity

That Cher in 2040 reminds me of this YouTube joke... Madonna looking at a Magazine when Cher calls her to wish her a happy birthday... The magazine showing what every female celebrity will look like many years from now and they all look super old and horrendous (including Gaga) Except Cher that looks the same

My dad said he doesn't remember an artist ever being as huge during their peaks as Gaga was 2009-2011 Is that true? That can absolutely be argued. Lol. Mariah had like a decade of number ones. Madonna was at a peak for 20 years even with Erotica's issues. Gaga has done amazing but I can not say that at all. But ya have to think of ALL the 80s and 90s and the different long streaks people had back then. It was a vastly different age. I just love who I love and try not to compare because times are so different. The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw

vitoburrrito 642
I think this depends on how you define “longevity”. You could argue that Cher has been around longer than most people but you could also argue that she hasn’t always been super relevant or consistently successful.
