It’s a little funny how pathetic of a move this is. Think about it. He couldn’t get actual support from his party on a key policy of his so he has to do this to make it happen. That’s telling to his absolute failure as an executive. Where are his dealmaking skills at? They completely failed and now, coupled with various leaks and debacles he has about as little political clout a president could get.

She makes a great point. If he does this, it sets precedent for a Dem. president to declare things like Climate Change, Gun Violence, etc. national emergency potential (and its more than arguable that they are bigger emergencies than border control)

Honestly, we should do this sort of thing in order to address climate change. We're way beyond baby steps.

See, we can't fall into this hole. As much as some of these issues need to be addressed, we have to do it through Congress, otherwise it won't stick. There's not some magic bandaid to fix these issues. I agree that if Republicans put this **** on the table, it's an option, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

We have, at most, 20 years to turn climate change around. If there was ever a time to declare a national emergency it would be when faced with the literal annihilation of our entire species.

There's no "doing it through congress." Republicans will literally never get on board with legislation that will save us. Never. They refuse to admit climate change is even real.
